Mary and the Witch’s Flower Trailers with English Subtitles

Studio Ponoc (スタジオポノック) was founded on April 15th 2015 with Studio Ghibli producer Yoshiaki Nishimura (The Tale of Princess Kaguya, When Marnie Was There) alongside several Ghibli animators, who are now set for the studio’s first release with Mary and the Witch’s Flower (メアリと魔女の花), an adaptation of the English 1971 children’s novel, The Little Broomstick, by Mary Stewart.

The studio has just released the second trailer, which is also available in Japanese text.

The trailer follows the release of the first trailer on late February.

19-year-old actress Hana Sugisaki (When Marnie Was There, Pieta in the Toilet, Her Love Boils Bathwater) is voicing the titular Mary; while actors Fumiyo Kohinata and Jiro Sato, and actresses Yuki Amami, Hikari Mitsushima, Eri Watanabe and Shinobu Otake will be voicing other characters [1].

Mary and the Witch’s Flower already has plans for a release in Australia and New Zealand via Madman Entertainment, while UK-based Altitude Film Sales has acquired the worldwide rights— and a sure release in the United Kingdom [1].

The film is set to open in Japan on July 8th this year.
