Anne Hathaway sings in the first trailer for Tom Hooper’s adaptation of Les Misérables.

Les Misérables is an adaptation of the successful stage musical based on Victor Hugo’s classic novel set in 19th-century France, in which a paroled prisoner named Jean Valjean (Hugh Jackman) seeks redemption.

Along with Jackman and Hathaway, the cast also includes Russell Crowe, Sacha Baron Cohen, Helena Bonham Carter, Amanda Seyfried and Eddie Redmanye.

The film is set to premiere in the USA and Canada on December 14, 2012.
