Justin Kurzel’s Assassin’s Creed Trailer

Here we have the trailer for Assassin’s Creed which, along with Warcraft, will try to prove this year that films based on videogames do not have to suck. Hopefully.

“Welcome to the Spanish Inquisition”

Callum Lynch (Michael Fassbender) is thrust into the secret age-old war between the Assassins and the Templar Order, while reliving the memories of his ancestor Aguilar de Nerha, a member of the Assassins. Callum will relive Aguilar’s memories through the Animus, a device that allows him to explore the lives of his ancestors, and the key to his survival.

And I would have loved this trailer more if it weren’t for Kanye West’s “I Am A God”. Here are Exhibit A and Exhibit B, basically fan editions using music from the videogames.

Assassin’s Creed is directed by Justin Kurzel, and reunited him with his Macbeth stars, Michael Fassbender and Marion Cotillard. The film also stars Michael K. Williams, Ariane Labed, Jeremy Irons, and Brendan Gleeson; and premieres on December 21, 2016.
