Hawaizaada Trailer

Yup, yup. January and February are definitely not dry-movie months in India. [1][2].

Making his feature-length film debut, director Vibhu Puri (who comes from the wings of Sanjay Leela Bhansali and assisting Vishal Bhardwaj in The Blue Umbrella) is ready for the release of Hawaizaada, a fictional account on the life of Shivkar Bapuji Talpade, who in 1895 (8 years before the Wright brothers) built and flew the first airplane.

I’m game. We all know what happened to the printing machine and noodles.

I’m also enjoying that it’s not a straight biopic and seems to have magic realism elements, giving me hints of Guzaarish and Hugo. Let’s hope the script and the acting do justice to the character and the visuals. The film stars Ayushmann Khurrana (who didn’t blow me away in Vicky Donor), Pallavi Sharda and Mithun Chakraborty.

Hawaizaada opens January 30th, 2015.
