Great Expectations (2012) Trailer

Following Alfonso Cuarón’s adapatation of Great Expectations in 1998, and last year’s TV miniseries version from BBC, Charles Dickens’ novel is getting yet another adaptation. This time, Mike Newell is directing it and you can check out the trailer below.

Jeremy Irvine stars as Pip, a young man who inherits a great fortune, but finds himself romantically frustrated by the beautiful Estella (Holliday Grainger) and the machinations of the embittered Miss Havisham (Helena Bonham Carter).

Factor in the reappearance of the inscrutable Magwitch (Ralph Fiennes), who finds himself in a spot of hot water with the law, and life soon becomes rather complicated for the young hero.

The supporting cast includes Jason Flemyng, Robbie Coltrane, Sally Hawkins, Jessie Cave, Sophie Rundle, and David Walliams.

Great Expectations premiered at the 2012 Toronto International Film Festival, but its wide release is scheduled for November 30, 2012.

    I know a lot of people shitted on Cuaron’s modern adaptation, but I actually thought that one had some very interesting elements. And I know everyone hates Gwyneth for all her Gwynethness, but I think her Gwynethness made Estella all the more awesome in the movie.
