Florian Gallenberger’s Colonia Trailer

Florian Gallenberger’s Colonia just had its premier at the Toronto Film Festival, so we’ve got ourselves a trailer. Gallenberger is known for taking the life of John Rabe to screen in the 2009 film that starred such international cast as Steve Buscemi, Zhang Jingchu, Teruyuki Kagawa, and Daniel Brühl, who also stars in here.

Colonia is based on a sealed-off village called Colonia Dignidad, 400km south of Santiago de Chile, established in 1961 by German emigrants with Nazi ties, now known for their cases of torture and child abuse tied to German, Chilean and other international secret services, including the Pinochet regime.

The film stars Emma Watson as Lena, the wife of a German citizen (Bruhl), who is kidnapped during the 70s by Augusto Pinochet’s secret police. Lena tracks her husband down to Colonia Dignidad and joins to try to save him.

The film also stars Michael Nyqvist as the Colonia Dignidad leader.

It’s expected to be released in Germany on January 26th next year.
