Chen Kaige’s Caught in the Web Trailer with English Subtitles

Any fan of Chen Kaige’s Farewell my Concubine?

The Chinese director is back on screen with his latest film Caught in the Web (搜索), set to be released on July 6th in theaters in China. The story centers on the lives of five women — Gao Yuan Yuan (高圆圆), Yao Chen (姚晨), Chen Hong (陈红), Wang Luo Dan (王珞丹), and Chen Ran (陈燃) — caught in the pains of today’s modern society. When a young secretary (Gao.) gets recorded on a cellphone camera not giving her seat to an elder, it causes a firestorm online.

In the words of Chen Kaige:

In a sense, we’re in the middle of a new Cultural Revolution: society now values perception over reality.

Caught in the Web also stars Mark Chao (Monga, LOVE) and Wang Xueqi (Reign of Assassins).

@Diandra Rodriguez, the bad thing about films like this is that they take ages to get on DVD! And no distributors will touch it unless they win some big awards… T-T
