Bad Words (2013) Trailer

Jason Bateman makes his directorial debut with Bad Words, whose trailer has been unleashed online.

Thanks to a registration loophole, Guy Trilby (Bateman), a 41-year-old, foul-mouthed, cranky, ill-mannered high-school dropout, enters the National Quill Spelling Bee, and he is ruthlessly determined to win. Trilby slashes and burns through the regionals, then, at the national level, he meets legitimate competitor Chaitanya (Rohan Chand), a seemingly ingenuous boy unfazed by the older man’s misanthropic demeanor.

The cast also includes Allison Janney, Rachael Harris, Kathryn Hahn, Ben Falcone and Philip Baker Hall. The screenwriting was done by Andrew Dodge.

After premiering at the 2013 Toronto International Film Festival, Bad Words will get a limited release on March 21, 2014.
