The Offspring – Days Go By MV

I did share my opinions about The Offspring’s latest single Days Go By [1] a bit more than a month ago here on YAM. But now, the band has unleashed a music video for the song. Check it out below.

The music video was directed by Lex Halaby, who previously worked with the band on the music video for Kristy, Are You Doing Okay? [MV] from 2008’s Rise and Fall, Rage and Grace.

I didn’t hate or love the song by any means, but I clearly understand the fact that the band isn’t younger anymore and the song works like a charm for promotion purposes. That said, the director managed to capture effectively the song’s concept of out with the old and embracing the new — it hits the point harder by the end of the video with the instruments on fire, mirroring the phoenix symbolism. Lex Halaby combines scenes of the sun-swept life of three friends in Southern California interlaced with performances of the band in the music video.

The Offspring’s ninth studio album, Days Go By, will be released on June 26, 2012. I’ll be honest and say that I’m not expecting something masterful like Smash or Americana, but I hope I can enjoy their new album at least.
