Rapsody – Believe Me

Hip-hop newcomer Rapsody’s first single hit the waves August 6th. Believe Me, from her debut album The Idea of Beautiful [1], is a simple track meant to introduce the world to something that’s been sorely missing from mainstream music — pure and simple hip-hop.

The video, directed by Kenneth Price, is simple: coated in dusty blue and grey, it shows Rapsody in what looks and feels like her hometown of Snow Hill, NC, rapping on a rooftop. Around her is what seems to be a contingent of her friends and label mates, standing in a circle and symbolizing the unity of their group as well as supporting their friend without hesitation.

Rapsody’s album dropped on August 28th and is available on iTunes.

As unexpected as my path was to loving all things weird, more unexpected is my ability to get attention for writing about the stuff.
