That’s right, ladies and gentlemen. The undisputed Queen of Pop, Ms. Janet Jackson, has returned after with some of her signature smooth and sexy with track No Sleeep. The song is signature Janet (Ms. Jackson if ya nasty), and features the southern swag of MC J. Cole.

The track is Janet’s first non-soundtrack single since 2009’s Make Me. Instead of going the route of many of her peers and attempting to blend in with the yung’ins, she keeps it classic, a mellow groove reminiscent of such tracks as Got ‘Til It’s Gone and That’s the Way Love Goes.

The video is a perfect partner to the song’s smoothness: the soft rain sliding like fingers on skin, a dusky color palette. In the album version of the song, our love interest, J. Cole, expresses with a smile on his face all the things he loves about his leading lady and the promise of a beautiful love blossoming between the two.

There’s nothing over-the-top or unnecessarily showy about the video. It’s simple, unfettered with dancers or a complex story line. Instead, fans are gifted something very special: an intimate look at the simple elegance of Janet Jackson.
