Illya Kuryaki & The Valderramas – Ula Ula

I had no idea at all that Argentina’s Illya Kuryaki & The Valderramas reunited. But now they’re back with a music video for Ula Ula, the first single from their comeback album Chances, which was released seven days ago.

This funk song sounds pretty cool and catchy. It almost feels like Dante Espinetta and Emmanuel Horvilleur haven’t missed a step after all these years. One piece of the song stood out to me given their lengthy absence:

“Este es el ritmo que estabas esperando, nosotros te lo damos y ahora estás bailando”
(This is the rhythm that you’ve been waiting for, we’re giving it to you and now you’re dancing)

The video was co-directed by Luciano Cieza and Hernan Corera. A YouTube upload of the video is available here.

It’s interesting to note that all these people that were away are making statements like your quote. Missy Elliott’s 9th Inning with the verses “Everytime I spit a rhyme, it’s a sick flow, you newcomers better sit back and take notes, This here my time, Here I come, better run, take what’s mine.” But the whole song is basically how she’s been missing from the business and has come to take it all back and show us. xD
