Hawk House – Live-ation

Yes, I know. It’s been a while since I’ve legit posted some new music here. However, I can’t get enough of this group. British hip-hop trio Hawk House bring a sound that’s very reminiscent of the type of gorgeous music that made the Black Eyed Peas so brilliant before they added more pop (and Fergie) to the mix. Originally known as A Yellow Man, this trio from South London has built quite the cult following. They were more or less a specter in the industry, releasing only a few tracks in as many years. Their mixtape A Little More Elbow Room is about to make its illustrious debut in a short while, and it has fans of the groups all a-quiver with anticipation.

The second single from their mixtape, Live-ation, showcases more of their quirky sense of the ridiculous (with an overstuffed teddy bear actually driving their car), but takes nothing away from the absolute brilliance that is the song. The video is quite simple, as the previous MV for Tidal Tendencies was — we have our group riding about town in a car, nothing more. The camera work is also simple, but it’s very particular, using soft focus quite judiciously and highlighting the radiance of city lights at night. I must say, I’m actually quite excited about this group. It’s a shame they haven’t produced more work, but I’m hoping with this mixtape they’ll be on the road to taking the world by storm.
