Faye Wong – Fleet of Time MV

A couple of months ago, the company that’s producing this upcoming movie asked fans online what a good English title for Cong Cong Na Nian (匆匆那年) could be. After possible (some quite excellent) choices such as Fleeting Years, Fleeting Wave, The Days Gone By,  Those Years We Had, Years Gone By… they decided to go with the uninspired Fleet of Time.

Fleet of Time it is! This post could’ve been titled Faye Wong – Those Years We Had, but NO-

Fleet of Time is directed by Zhang Yi Bai (张一白), based on the novel by Jiu Ye Hui (九夜茴), which has already been adapted into a web series. The story is set in the 80s in Beijing, and it follows a group of friends ((Ni Ni, Eddie Peng, Kai Zheng, Vision Wei) who grow apart overtime. Faye Wong, who’s been in charge of a couple movie themes lately [1][2], is also in charge of this song, which has all the elements that fans loved of In Honor of Our Youth.

The music video doesn’t escape movie-promoting limbo with several scenes of the movie (and, as usual, none of Faye), but it’s credited to Wei Wei An Shen (薇薇安沈).

Fleet of Time is set to open in China on December 12th.
