Arcade Fire – Reflektor MV

Three days ago, Arcade Fire released two music videos for Reflektor, the first single from their upcoming fourth studio album Reflektor. One of them is interactive (directed by Vincent Morriset) — check it out here — and the other one (directed by Anton Corbijn) below isn’t.

The non-interactive video features husband and wife co-vocalists Win Butler and Régine Chassagne in raccoon makeup driving through a countryside dreamscape reminiscent of David Cronenberg’s eXistenZ in a military transport with papier-maché-headed grotesques of them and their bandmates playing in the back, then cavorting with a creepy, hipster-hatted crystal-ball man.

As far as the interactive video is concerned, read here about its making and explore the technology used to create it here. Filmed in Jacmel, Haiti, the interactive video’s story follows a young woman who travels between her world and our own. Using the computer or a smartphone/tablet, you will be able to control the effects used in the video.

The song (as well as the album) is produced by LCD Soundsystem’s James Murphy and David Bowie provided brief backing vocals — “down, down, downs” — for Reflektor.

Reflektor will be released on October 29, 2013.
