The Future President: Interview with Coley

  • Debt Reduction & Reforming the Tax Code: Debt reduction measures should be phased in over time (not quickly and drastically while our economy is still recovering) that include both spending cuts and increased taxes. I’ll leave the details to the experts, but it has to be a fair and balanced approach that both parties reach by compromising with each other. The tax code also has to be reformed to be much simpler.
  • Reform Our Political System: Our government has been fundamentally broken due to a number of factors: 1. Hyper-Partisanship; 2. Too Much Money in Politics; 3. Over-Use of the Filibuster; 4. Negative Ads Creating Division; 5. Perpetual Campaigning. Politicians are spending too much time playing games and fighting with each other trying to win the next election. Leaders need to be leaders and bring people together for what is right rather than create division to achieve political goals. It’s arrogant to think you are always right and the other side is evil. Can’t we all admit that a middle way is best? Compromise like the founding fathers did and make bold moves, muthaf*ckers.

Pledge to Coley: The Pledge of Allegiance should be changed to pledging to me. This is really the most serious issue facing our country – infinitely more important than Points 1 through 4.

Anything you’d take out of legislation/a law you want repealed?

Again, I’d like to do anything I can to end hyper-partisan politics and get our government working together again with pragmatism and compromise. I can’t stand the fighting and gridlock between Republicans and Democrats and the radical language that some are using in demonizing each other. We are the United States of America, we are all on the same team, and we need to put ideology aside to do what’s in the best interest of our country. If you agree with me – support the cause at www.thepragmaticparty.com. It’s a faux third party that is more of a sociopolitical movement to put pressure on our current leaders to work together. Hey Congress – Quit B*tchin’ and Get Shit Done!

Who would be your ideal running mate?

Ty Ty America (Tyler Nicolo’s producer name)

If the election was decided in a cipher between Obama and Romney, who would take it on sheer skill alone?

Obama would definitely win. Feel how you want about him politically, but the man’s swag is undeniable.

Since running for president is a little further down the road for you, what are the future plans for Coley the Artist? Coley the CEO?

Coley the artist is going to keep making and putting out records and videos. I’ma put out at least one to two projects every year and keep growing as an artist whether independently or via a major label partnership. Coley the CEO got plans upon plans for expansion that will be unveiled at the proper times. I walk it, then talk it.

Any advice for anyone aspiring to take on the music business (whether the music side or the business side)?

Kill your ego and remain humble. Master your craft. Work excessively. Overcome all fears. Don’t give a f*ck about anything negative anyone says, but remain open to constructive criticism. Don’t take anything personal. Loyalty. Honesty. Remain positive and persistent. At the end of the day, it’s on you to make it – the music business and life for that matter don’t owe you shit. You know whether you got it or you don’t. If you do, you gotta sacrifice everything you have for it. If you don’t, shit or get off the pot. This shit ain’t for the weak hearted. Have fun and pull your balllllllllllllllllllllllllllllls out.

Well, that’s all the questions I’ve got over here. Thanks so much for talking with me. You’re one of the coolest mofos I think I’ve ever met!

Love our questions, Camiele!! You’re f’in awesome!

As unexpected as my path was to loving all things weird, more unexpected is my ability to get attention for writing about the stuff.
