2. M.I.A – Born Free
Grab #5 and #4, and you got M.I.A’s Born Free controversial long-form video. Though the video doesn’t really feel like a music video, Born Free is harsh, raw, and hard to digest.
1. OK GO – This Too Shall Pass
Whatever your opinion on OK GO’s music, one must concede that these guys should be in the music video hall of fame. One would think that one epic video is possible, but a string of brilliant videos that feel better than the one before? Sure, This Too Shall Pass was the first single of their third album Of the Blue Color of the Sky, and it wasn’t surpassed by the subsequent singles of the album… End Love [MV], White Knuckles [MV], and Last Leaf [MV] were epic in their own right.

To be honest, it was really hard not to place Born Free on top, which is my favorite music video, and I would have placed Badu ahead of Lady Gaga.
Elva… I have a soft guilty pleasure soft spot for her. Gotta give it to her for making that video and trying to promote it in Singapore. This type of thing could possibly be a career killer, but she just gave them a Rainbow even gayer version. In Kylie’s case, which is also about free love and all that crap, she could either choose to pull the video (since there’s no other version), but her decision isn’t a big risk… she’s still famous everywhere else.
