Rodrigo’s Top 15 Favorite Singles (2013-I)
10. Duncan Dhu – Cuando Llegue El Fin
I really enjoyed hearing Duncan Dhu’s most recent single and I’m looking forward to their new batch of songs next month.
9. David Bowie – The Stars (Are Out Tonight)
David Bowie and Tilda Swinton FTW! In all seriousness, I wasn’t too fond of the first 2013 Bowie song [MV] released earlier this year, but his second single (and the video) won me over.
8. Green Day – X-Kid
A standout track from the ¡Tré! album. While the song was released on Youtube last year with only a cassette tape playing the song, this was later confirmed as a single on February 12, 2013.
7. Fitz And The Tantrums – Out Of My League
I was listening to Radio Doble 9 a few months ago and this song popped up. Made me feel nostalgic and very happy. Reminded me of Tenderness [MV] and the Clueless film (the final scenes in particular).
6. Joanna Wang – Coins
To quote myself here on this catchy song:
I like how she sounds both cute and asshole-ish (lyrics-wise) at the same time.
‘Nuff said.
LOL, I have only heard The Stars (Are Out Tonight) and Get Lucky :P
@mirella, Not even the songs from Justin Timberlake and Kanye West?
@Rodrigo, I have heard of them existing, but I haven’t listened to them :P
@mirella, You’re serious? Both are unavoidable… on the web at least. I can’t remember any local radio playing any of the songs here except for maybe Doble 9 playing Out Of My League, Get Lucky, Can’t Get Rid Of and Hit Me.
@Rodrigo, lol apparently I have easily avoided them xD
@mirella, Until Tom Hiddleston recommends them.
@Rodrigo, Nah, he only recommeds hipster music xD His musical taste is something I usually don’t agree with… except he does like Daft Punk. But I listened to the latest album before he recommended it.
It still made me laugh when he sorta recommended Nicki Minaj’s Starships.
@mirella, I remember the Minaj thing from your diary, lol. One day, he might suggest something from here.
I think I might have three or four matching tracks. I think it’s cheating, though, that MVs influence your picking of a song ;P
@amy, Now that you mention MVs, I didn’t pick Bad Motherfucker (which I forgot about it while making this). This list will change a lot by the end of the year, lol.
I don’t think we’ll ever match in songs (but some of the top songs, we might). One, I’m not into the Asian music scene as you are. Two, you don’t care about the stuff I might like.
@Rodrigo, true, true. It’s gonna be interesting to see everyone’s top lists, but you’re all so lazy to put them together sometimes hahaha
@amy, Juan always has his Top 25 film lists going on. Should I unleash my Top 25 of 2011 and 2012? Maybe as blog posts since it’s late for it to be feature-worthy.
@rodirgo – sure, go for it!
Get Lucky wins again
@giacomo, Still a fun track. Dunno if it’ll hold the #1 spot after the year ends, but as of now it is my #1 pick.
