Rocking Behind the Scenes – Interview with Patrick Connor

Do you have any favorite memories from the festival in years past?

It is hard to pick just one really. Personally I was really proud to host a DOINDIE showcase stage last year where we had a selection of the best bands at the festival playing. It was amazing seeing bands like The Dizzy Brains, KoKoMo and I Wear Experiment play in the tiny Steel Face venue. These bands usually play for hundreds if not thousands of people, so it was a real treat to host them in such an intimate place. Colonel Mustard & the Dijon 5 were amazing to have at the festival too. They brought so much joy to the proceedings. They were the most friendly and fun band I have ever seen at Zandari.

Can you give us your top 5 acts to see at this year’s festival?

Nope. But I can give you 11, though!

The Dizzy Brains, Nametag, Crosa Rosa, Erye Llew, Farewell Dear Ghost, Diealright, Silica Gel, The Barberttes, Say Sue Me, Genius and ECE. Honestly … I could go on and on. We’ve got 140 bands playing this year’s fest and there’s definitely no shortage of top-notch talent.

Any tips for first time Zandari Festa attendees?

Check out stuff you would not usually get to see. It might be the only time some of these bands come to Korea and they are all worth checking out. Also, just get involved. The easiest way to do this is chat with people. It is a great way to find out who is worth seeing and to make some new friends at the same time.

Zandari Festa is currently in full force. You can still buy tickets in person in the heart of Hongdae at the Xindie ticket booth. Be sure to check out the official site for artist line-ups, showcase information & venue locations.
