Finding The Solution: Interview with The Solutions

Korean music is on the rise, and now has two full showcases at SXSW, what do you think is driving Korean music to become popular?
Naru: I think good hooks, maybe? There are some bad hooks, but many hooks are good. And many K-Pop fans loves handsome guys and cutie girls and idols. Besides music like us, band music are also energetic like western music, and it has some kind of characteristic that is good, that will attract western fans.

Who are some of your musical influences or who are you listening to lately?

Oh-Kyung:  I really love Radiohead. And, uh usually I heard K-Pop.

Sol: I first started band music listening to Smashing Pumpkins, or Blur, nowadays I hear more folk music like Kings of Convenience or all the music like Beatles, nowadays I almost always hear that kind of songs.
Han Sol: I love all kind of band music from Europe and America, like Oasis, Hysterix, and Rage Against the Machine
Oh-Kyung: I like 1975 and MJMT and My Lace and many things.

When performing live do you always have a set list?
Sol:  Yeah, sure.
YAM: Well some bands just like to jam and work things out that way.
Sol:  Well we think about flow, it’s very important, so we always consider that.
