YAM’s Most Anticipated Films of 2015

4-2

The Avengers 2: Age of Ultron (dir. Joss Whedon) [Trailer 1 and 2]

The first Avengers film was extremely fun to watch and is widely considered by many as one of the best superhero films of all time (personally, it ranks very high for me in this current decade). Age of Ultron‘s first teaser was pretty much love at first sight. Joss Whedon proved that he could handle more than one hero at a time with ease. Can he improve upon the first Avengers film? We’ll have to wait and see.

Chappie (dir. Neill Blomkamp) [Trailer]

Just like Neill Blomkamp’s Elysium topped our list of Most Anticipated Films of 2013 (to quite atrocious disasters), we can’t help but look forward to his upcoming Chappie. Sure- he may still be riding on a District 9 high, but like my sci-fi-hating mother said when seeing the trailer “I want to watch that movie.

The Hateful Eight (dir. Quentin Tarantino)

After the script for this film leaked, it seemed like Tarantino didn’t want to make it anymore. Then a successful first-draft live reading [1] and some studio persuasion changed his mind. The titular Eight played by Samuel L. Jackson, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Kurt Russell, Tim Roth, Walton Goggins, Michael Madsen, Bruce Dern, and  YAM favorite Demián Bichir.

During a post-Civil War journey through Wyoming, these eight strangers will run into a blizzard and Channing Tatum. What’s really exciting to film geeks like me, though, is that the film will have “the widest 70-mm film release in more than 20 years.” [1]

And our most anticipated film of 2015 is…

1. Crimson Peak (dir. Guillermo del Toro)

[Trailer]

We are always excited when Guillermo del Totoro has a new movie for us!

We were already awed by the sci-fi awesomefest that was Pacific Rim, and now we can see his other favourite kind of movie: horror. Gothic horror! The good kind (we hope) we haven’t seen in ages. Not only that, it’s filled with great and good-looking performers as the main cast! I cannot wait for Comic-Con (and the movie of course)! I expect multiple viewings of Crimson Peak in my future!
