TCM Classic Film Festival 2012: Red Carpet Interviews

Barbara Rush: You are YAM Magazine? I thought you were a sizzling yam.

I might be. [laugh] Could you say a few words on the importance of film preservation?
BR: Oh.

Or a lot of words.
BR:
I could go on for a year about film preservation, and particularly restoring the films because it makes it possible for young people like you to see them the way they were when we saw them.

We always think, Bob Osborne and me, he’s an old friend of mine, that the 40s was the great decade of film. That’s Gone with the Wind and all those films, and to keep them alive for young people to see. And silent films as well.

Restoration is history. History should be restored.
