2012 – LGBT Blogathon

Hello, YAMmies~

You know what time of the year it is again?

Just like last year we celebrated Pride Month during the first week of June, with our first EVER LGBT Blogathon event, the YAM Magazine team is proud to announce that we’re back at it!

Same rules apply! You can talk about ANYTHING entertainment (that goes for film, television, music, books, or anything else you can think of…) that is related to LGBT themes. From anywhere in the world, in any language.

Join us on June 11th – June 17th to share the best of worldwide LGBT entertainment~

These are the banners, sized 300 x 250, we’ve made for this year’s event!

If you don’t feel like using a banner representing just one letter of the LGBT community, you are more than welcomed to use our full banner, which comes in the “film version” used above, or the “television version” below:

Have you picked your banner?

You can download the ZIP files:

Join us!

Day 3: June 13th

Day 4: June 14th

  1. oooh i wanna do this! so we just add the banner (somewhere on our site?) or are we including a post along with it?

    • amy says:

@Candice Frederick, just add the banner on your site (so we can get people talking) and when the time comes to write your (multiple) contributing post(s), do one ore more of these things:
      – you post something having some text linking to this post (like: contribution to YAM Magazine’s 2012 LGBT Blogathon).
      – Write your post, and leave a comment down here with a link to it.
      – Tweet us your post @yammag or using the #YAMLGBT hashtag
      – or leave a link on the Facebook event page.

We’ll then add your post on the list above ;)

  2. Caroline says:

What a funny coincidence that your event overlaps almost exactly with my event, the original Queer Film Blogathon (also in its second year). Anyone who writes about LGBT film for your event is also more than welcome to cross-post to mine: http://garbolaughs.wordpress.com/2012/05/05/queer-film-blogathon-2012/

Interview with Actor/Writer David W. Ross

Formerly from England, actor, writer and co-‐producer director David W. Ross, of the soon-‐to-‐be-‐released Indie film, I Do, does want to make a difference; hopefully open our eyes to the inequality of rights between gay and straight married couples in America.

  30. Elwood Jones says:

Finishing off this weeks series of reviews on the films of Gregg Araki, I revisit the first of his films I ever saw “The Doom Generation”

You can find my review here

    http://fromthedepthsofdvdhell.blogspot.co.uk/2012/06/doom-generation.html

    • amy says:

      @Elwood Jones, awesome!
      Thanks for your participation!!

How was your Gregg Araki week overall? xD

      • Elwood Jones says:

@amy, It’s been a wild week and no doubt scared my fragile psyche in god knows how many ways! Still it’s been fun to highlight Araki’s film especially when he is still a very much overlooked director, so hopefully will have encouraged a few people to check out his back catalog. I would have liked to have done “Mystery Skin” aswell, but just ran out of time, so no doubt it will make an appearance on my blog at some point next week.

Did your viewing of “Nowhere” inspire you to watch of his other films, or were you already familiar with his work??

        • amy says:

@Elwood Jones, I had watched Mystery Skin, but I had never ventured further. I read your review and then was browsing MUBI’s LGBT section to see what was available to watch in my region. Clicked on the thumbnail of Shannen Doherty and Rose McGowan with typical teen expressions, and it turned out to be a Gregg Araki film xD

I know I missed the week of LGBT entertainment, but here’s my blog entry on “Husbands, the Series” — an utterly charming web series about a couple trying to adjust to married life.
