The Fangirly Diary of a Geek Girl: We be trolling~

MONDAY

OMG! Squirrel Girl is going to have her own comicbook! Will we see her in the MCU? It seems that Unbeatable Squirrel Girl will go to college and still have time to kick “cosmic” villains’ ass! And look at the adorable cover arts!

There is this rumor that said that Spider-Man film universe may be connecting with Marvel’s Cinematic Universe. Of course, this rumor has been going on for years with not much actually happening, but it has resurfaced recently and, well, it still makes me happy!

Of course, EW have to come and rain on my parade with their facts and logic~ It seems the only way Sony will consider a partnership with Marvel is if Sinister Six flops epically. I kinda don’t see that happening, and I am not sure if I want it to happen anyway. And it is true what the article says, “Marvel wants Spider-Man, but doesn’t need Spider-Man.”

Talking about rumors, Fox is currently developing a live-action X-Men TV show. Let me repeat that, Fox is currently developing a freaking live-action X-Men TV show OMG! And then Shawn Madden from EatGeekPlay tweeted that the series will be based on Peter David’s X-Factor!

Sigourney Weaver talked about Alien: Isolation videogame with The Mary Sue, but most importantly of the legacy of Ellen Ripley for the women in movies and games~

I’m sort of stunned that it is an influential character but I’m delighted, and I can kind of understand it because I actually based the character on a woman who inspires me very much who’s an environmentalist who’s very… she’s very much a person who doesn’t get bogged down in things that could go wrong. I’m glad that I picked the right person.

TUESDAY

The Walking Dead has been renewed for Season 6 and nobody is surprised~

Talking about TV series, you know how SyFy always has interesting things to share but their execution is more often than not lacking? The new series is no different! I meant the interesting premise. I cannot talk about its execution yet. Anyway, SyFy will adapt the comic series Five Ghosts for TV.

Five Ghosts is about a 1930s era treasure hunter possessed by five literary ghosts (Merlin, Robin Hood, Sherlock Holmes, Musashi, and Dracula) whose unique abilities he can draw on during his adventures.

Yep, jut think about that. Also, here’s an image of said ghosts as they appeared on the comicbook:

After the first tweet about her busy days, J.K. Rowling then decided to play with us and finally released an anagram. Of course, fandom being fandom went in uproar trying to solve. And it was totally about Newt Scamander so related to Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them~ Of course, one nerd rose to the ocassion and solved it: “Newt Scamander only meant to stay in New York for a few hours”. Yep, part of the script, to set a scene alright. J.K. confirmed the solution and was actually quite pleased with the fandom for playing.

But this was a mild and playful teasing, unlike the trolling RDJ will unleash during the day. First, RDJ appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show and after not-so-gentle probing from Ellen, he said “OK, yes” about whether we will have a new Iron Man movie. And that’s only few days after he said jokingly that he he’d do a fourth Iron Man if Marvel hired Mel Gibson to direct. He also confirmed that in his Reddit AMA. And then he was on Late Show with David Letterman saying the total opposite of that. That nope, we ain’t getting a new Iron Man movie. The hell, RDJ? Quit playing games with my heart!

There’s no plans for an Iron Man 4, There’s no script for Iron Man 4, but they do have a plan and I think they’re gonna announce it. You know, [Marvel’s] very secretive about it. […] Just between us, no, but I’m gonna do other stuff with Marvel. I’m still going to be involved with Marvel and there’s gonna be plenty of fun stuff to happen.

And like I mentioned, RDJ did a Reddit AMA, and he also talked about Sherlock Holmes, and that a third part is in development and they want it to be “the best of the series”. And now, I don’t know if I should believe that either. I guess time will tell! Not only that, he also hinted about a Doctor Who inspired project. Or at least inspired in “a particular episode”. Argh! I can’t!

On different news, Dumbledore and Umbridge are now in Paddington. Yep, Michael Gambon and Imelda Staunton will be Uncle Pastuzo and Aunt Lucy. So I guess they are Peruvian now? Also, here! A new, cute and totally not creepy poster!
