The Fangirly Diary of a Geek Girl: Ups and Downs, Smiles and Frowns

TUESDAY

Here are the best films of Sundance, according to Total Films. I’m very interested in at least 10 of these.

And here’s a sneak preview of “The History of the Alchemists’ Guild” from the Game of Thrones:

This and more animated stories will be on the Game of Thrones: The Complete Second Season on Blu-ray. And I still haven’t updated from my good old DVD player~

Talking about Blu-rays, here’s the cover of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey:

I gotta say Martin Freeman looks cute as Bilbo, even if I’m not a fan of this cover art. In fact, some believe it is fake because it’s not a “powerful ‘buy me’ image”. Although, considering the image is new, that is superb Photoshop work~

Apparently if Man of Steel flops, then the Justice League movie won’t happen. And while Zack Snyder is hit-or-miss with me, I trust the team, that includes Christopher Nolan as executive producer, will pull through… and the trailer was awesome!

But let’s not focus on the bad news, let’s talk about how Henry Cavill says Man of Steel is totally not a dark film:

It’s not a dark movie by any means. Past representations of the character have been quite light… This is a more realistic view of the character, while still maintaining the very unrealistic, or potentially unrealistic features of an alien with superpowers.

Also, both Cavill and Snyder don’t want to spill any beans regarding possible romance with Lois Lane. They will rather talk about flight, especially since Superman doesn’t know how to do it because he was raised human. Cavill comments:

The tricky thing is there is a sense of awe and also a sense of being frightened.

Eva Green is the titular dame in Sin City: A Dame to Die For… and it’s only logical. Both Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller are happy with the choice:

Ava Lord is one of the most deadly and fascinating residents of Sin City. From the start, we knew that the actor would need to be able to embody the multifaceted characteristics of this femme fatale and we found that in Eva Green.

Yes! Brian Bendis confirmed on his Twitter that Spider-Men 2 could be a thing! Yay! Peter Parker and Miles Morales together again! At least I hope by the time they have this second encounter Otto Octavius is not in control of Peter Parker’s body anymore.

RDJ doesn’t expect to see any cameo of fellow Avengers in Iron Man 3. Aww.

Everywhere you look now in every Marvel movie there are opportunities where certain new pals of his could be useful. So they’re in the atmosphere, so to speak, but I wouldn’t expect to see them on the ground in this one.
