The Fangirly Diary of a Geek Girl: Unleash the Marvel takeover!

WEDNESDAY

Benedict Cumberbatch hosted Laureus World Sports Awards! He was adorable and awkward, as you can see in this interview with Tony Hawk… and man, does he look old! Also, for some reason, Jamie Foxx played a song on a piano as if he were Ray Charles. Are we in 2004?

Now it’s time for Doctor Who news! So, BBC released three images to mark the nine years that have gone by since the show’s revival. As you could expect, the images feature the 9th Doctor, played by my darling Christopher Eccleston. The other two images featured Billie Piper’s Rose Tyler and John Barrowman’s Captain Jack Harness~

Mark Gatiss said he is writing two episodes for Peter Capaldi’s Doctor, but “that doesn’t mean they’ll both necessarily be in this season” tho! Also, he doesn’t want to involve Gallifrey and more Time Lords into Doctor Who. He wants his Time Lords feral and one of a kind~

Every time you go back to Gallifrey, it starts to make the Time Lords a bit too domesticated. I know that’s why Russell T Davies came up with the whole idea of the Doctor being the last one because eventually if you see them so often they become a bit like a bunch of MPs, whereas if you talk about them as this amazing, powerful force, they’re much more exciting.

Karen Gillan had an Reddit AMA and answered many Doctor Who related questions, but the most important one was which series would she fangirl if she were at Comicon as an attendant~

If the X-Files were at comicon now, I would freak out. Gillian Anderson is the greatest redhead there ever was. I want to believe.

Evangeline Lilly gets to be in Ant-Man. Or so two journalists kinda confirm when talking on Twitter! If it turns out to be true, will she be Wasp, a.k.a. Janet van Dyne? And considering Michael Douglas will be Hank Pym, will Lilly be Janet? And if so, is Wasp going to be Pym’s love interest with such an age difference? Or maybe Wasp will be Pym’s daughter. Or another chraracter altogether.

THURSDAY

It’s Spider-Man day in Marvel comics! Here are the preview of Superior Spider-Man [1] and Ultimate Spider-Man [2]. Curiously, in both comics other people than Peter Parker done the Spider-Man costume, yet Peter Parker is the focus of both comicbooks in very different ways.

CinemaCon brings footage of movies we are waiting for! Well, we cannot see the footage because they are exclusive for the folks who were actually there, but we did get descriptions. So yeah, this is  SPOILERS WARNING!

Still here? OK, the first 10 minutes of X-Men: Days of Future Past bring lots of mutant carnage when new and old friends get hunted. So yeah, action and violence! A great combo for me!

Then there was a first clip and a new trailer for The Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. And man, the clip is dark and chilling; the trailer is awesome and the apes are together strong~

And finally there was Godzilla footage that featured Bryan Cranston and damn it was emotional! Descriptions of the clip show that Cranston’s character indeed knows that “the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few”, and it’s painful!
