The Fangirly Diary of a Geek Girl: Too late to change the name!

MONDAY

Remember how Chris Evans was in a Call of Duty Online teeny teaser? Here’s the full thing!

On more Marvel alumni news, Scarlett Johansson will star in Dreamworks’ Ghost in the Shell. Yes, it is an adaptation of the Japanese anime of the said name. Nothing against Johansson, but she doesn’t strike as a “Major Motoko Kusanagi”, which is the name of the female main character. Guess if it actually gets made, they will Americanize all the names and place story in somewhere not Tokyo? According to Variety, fanboys Steven Spielberg’s been trying to make a movie of this anime. If he’s so interested, then he should direct the damn movie instead of Rupert Sanders of Snow White and the Huntsman fame.

Ethan Hawke was very close to play Doctor Strange instead of Benedict Cumberbatch~ Dude still wants to work on Marvel if the chance comes again though. So, good luck with that!

There’s a tremendous amount of salesmanship that’s now really important to a studio like that. It’s a tremendous amount of time in your life where you’re working, and you’re not acting. We’re living in the age of Marvel… They’re making movies at a high rate, and they’re making them successfully. I’m totally open to doing something like that.

Talking about actual Doctor Strange, Benny Batch talked about why this movie will be a success…. Because Marvel, that’s why!

I don’t think it’s a risk because of Marvel. Marvel is a stable of bringing out ordinary comic characters and turning them into screen-like gods. It’s very different, it’s an Astral Plane. There’s a huge new element to this Marvel universe that’s going to be employed in building this story and this character. But you know, I’m really excited about it, about working with Scott whose imagination is endless, and all the boys and girls at Marvel who know what they’re doing.

According to Matthew Vaughn, people don’t want serious Nolan-like comic book movies anymore. They want to have fun!

People want fun and escapism at the moment. Look at the success of Guardians of the Galaxy. I think Nolan kick-started a very dark, bleak style of superhero escapism, and I think people have had enough of it.

In vaguely related stuff, do you know why the Arkham Asylum, showrunner Bruno Heller said we gotta watch Gotham, now back from mid-season break, to find out!

The important thing about Arkham, and the first episode back explains it, is why is it so easy to escape from Arkham? In the Batman stories, there’s kind of a revolving door in there. It’s one of the fun things about setting up this world, being able to put the architecture in place to explain things like that. This is one of those things.

Vikings will some grace us with a third season, February 19th to be exact, and History is sharing a pretty cast picture and some more info!

With the promise of new land from the English, Ragnar leads his people to an uncertain fate on the shores of Wessex. King Ecbert (Linus Roache) has made many promises and it remains to be seen if he will keep them. But ever the restless wanderer, Ragnar is searching for something more … and he finds it in the mythical city of Paris. Rumored to be impenetrable to outside forces, Ragnar and his band of Norsemen must come together to break down its walls and cement the Vikings legend in history.

Apparently, the final two episodes (“The Watchers On The Wall” and “The Children”) of Game of Thrones Season 4 will screen in some US IMAX theaters through January 29th, followed by our first look at the Season 5 trailer.

You know, despite complains from some fans and critics, Doctor Who Series 8 had great ratings! At least in the US of A! According to BBC America, Doctor Who finished the year marking its highest ratings ever, averaging 2.3 million viewers for the season. Also, Christmas Day special had 2.6 million viewers across two airings. Congrats!
