The Fangirly Diary of a Geek Girl: Tony Stark makes you feel~

THURSDAY

Man of Steel screening reactions continue to be positive! And apparently it’s not as dour as the trailers have suggested! Does this mean we will finally get a Justice League movie? And more importantly, more good DC movies about superheros that are not Batman?

Remember the Iron Man 3 stills that showed in Empire Magazine? They were officially released today and in hi-res.

Bryan Singer says X-Men: Days of Future Past is an “inbetweenquel”. Mmmm, I’ll try to use that word in conversations!

It’s not totally different, it relates to the movies but it relates to both X-Men: First Class and the other X-Men pictures. So it is it’s own thing in a way, it’s not a sequel, it’s not a prequel it’s a “inbetwequel”.

Gary Oldman will lead a human colony in San Francisco in Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes. On more ex Harry Potter actors news, Daniel Radcliffe is about to become Igor on a new Frankenstein adaptation… but as much as I love DanRad, Igor was not in the books, Fox! Also, Emma Watson might be Cinderella in the Kenneth Branagh movie. Fairy tale movies are here to stay.

FRIDAY

The Hobbit: Here and Back Again is pushed to December 17, 2014. Dammit, I wanted to watch a Hobbit movie around my birthday. But I knew it was too good to be true. Every other Tolkien movie has been released on December, it’s practically tradition now.

Other movie that got moved are Kick-Ass 2, from June 28th, 2013 to August 16th, 2013. And Michael Bay’s Ninja Turtles; now it’s three weeks later on June 6th, 2014. Its main competition? For now, it’s Jurassic Park 4, which should be released a week after that.

Doctor Who returns on March 30th, and to make us remember BBC abuses Photoshop once more in this new promo picture:

doctor-who-bellsjohn

The new episode is called ‘The Bells of St John’ and we will be introduced (for the third time, sorta) to new companion Clara Oswald, played by Jenna-Louise Coleman.

Interesting talk about Wreck-it-Ralph, where there are questions such as what will happen if we met of a Ralph from another videogame. Will it have the same personality? Apparently director Rich Moore it’s thinking about it for the sequel, but nothing is yet written on stone.

Are there other Ralphs? What would happen if another Fix It Felix, Jr. game was plugged in? Are there other Ralphs that are more contemporary? Is there another version of the game that was made for mobile? Are there those kind of Super Smash Brothers types games where all the characters are gathered in a fighting game? What would that be like for Ralph to come face to face with those different iterations of himself? And it’s created some really cool conversations, so I think that that is so funny you bring up because it’s something we’re playing around with right now.

Wreck-it-Ralph 2 would be the second sequel in Disney animation history (not counting Pixar) that would get a theatrical release. The other one is the great The Rescuers Down Under.

Finally, RDJ is all mellow as he defines his role as Iron Man as destiny:

I think Iron Man wound up being the first time I screen-tested since Chaplin. As far as I was concerned, it was destiny. […] I just wasn’t going to let lack of perseverance, lack of preparation, or lack of prayer get in the way. I just went crazy — in a good way. And suddenly it occurred to me, Oh my God, Stan Lee might not know this, but everything he created has all been leading to this moment. It’s me.

He also talks about possible future movies in the Iron Man franchise, and how he became friend and fan of scriptwriter Drew Pierce after meeting him for Iron Man 3.

And that’s it for the week. Before I go, let me show you how Audrey Hepburn rose from the dead to advertise chocolate!

Her sons say she would be “proud” of that role since she “often spoke about her love of chocolate and how it lifted her spirit”.

  1. It looks like In the Flesh is taking a different approach to the “zombie returning to society” genre than Les revenants, which is getting a UK TV remake by the creator of State of Play and Shameless. Interesting how we’re seeing more zombies becoming human/having thoughts, like in Warm bodies.

The Audrey Hepburn is uncanny. I’m unsure of this whole “using the image of the dead” thing, though. Maybe for a movie cameo, but advertising??? I liked Gene Kelly dancing, and the j’adore Dior cameos made, at least, a bit of sense having fashion icons. But chocolate? Let Hugh decide whether he wants to sell Iced Tea [1], but having your heirs decide you should sell chocolate is… weird. LOL All you need to do to make a living, is be the direct heir to someone who was famous to make a few million bucks? Can Drew Barrymore resurrect the Barrymores? Will Whitney Houston’s kid resurrect her in the coming years? Will Michael Jackson’s kids make a living solely based on the image of their father?

Now more than ever I want famous parents hahaha

Also, about the Oscar tie- I think it’s unfair that 3 votes aren’t counted to break the tie, after all, it isn’t like the Academy has over a million voting members to not have those 3 votes matter.
