The Fangirly Diary of a Geek Girl: Tompocalypse!

THURSDAY

Is Tom Hiddleston a god among men? That’s the question ELLE asked in this very entertaining interview with Hiddles that they have been evilly teasing for a week and putting the fandom on a frenzy. Here’s the whole thing scanned, where you can read nice tidbits like Hiddles’ first kiss (at ten), and how he learns about Trousergate (go Google that!), also ELLE gave us behind-the-scenes pictures and a lovely video of Hiddles running, which I also posted on my FB!

Also, here’s a nice interview about Corionalus, which I didn’t see because my country sucks in that way, and why Hiddles decided to take the role… and as usual, dude is very sympathetic to all the characters he plays. Then again, we are talking about the #1 Loki Fanboy~

Coriolanus is seen as being unsympathetic and cold, but I actually saw so much vulnerability in him. He is an exceptional soldier, and when he returns from war he is strongly encouraged to enter politics and it’s a disaster waiting to happen. The role requires flexibility, compromise and the ability to tell white lies – and he can’t do that. He’s too proud and stubborn; his belief in honour conflicts with what is expected of him.

So, considering the week we have had, how can a fangirl survive this onslaught from many fronts? Here’s a guide on how to survive the Tompocalypse. I like how it starts:

Dear fellow Hiddlestoners… We are under siege. We’re being attacked from all sides. Donmar has declared a war on our hormonal system; Jaguar shamelessly taunts all our kinks; Elle UK hits us where it most hurts; and Thor related footage that should’ve stayed buried is flooding in. Resistance, I’m afraid, seems futile. All hope is not lost, however. Here, these guidelines will assist you in your time of need and ensure your immediate survival.

In more Tumblr stuff, here are two cute ones about little girls and superheroes. The first one is Superheroes are for girls, too! where you can find lots of images of little girls from all times and places who love superheroes. Yes, it is very cute. The second one is Little Girls are better at designing Superheroes than you which is a mini-art project where an artist draws superheroes based on costumes worn by little girls. Also very cute (and creative!).

Let’s talk about Cap’s shield~ Captain America: The Winter Soldier‘s property master, Russell Bobbitt, talks about the different looks and uses of it. Also, some more Behind-the-Scenes pics!

In our movie we have four different looks because he goes into different scenarios, different missions. He applies different material — Marvel materials that help make the shield stealth in different situations. So, we have four different styles. In theory in the Marvel lore, there’s one shield. In this movie we have a couple surprises with the shield. It’ll appear that there are different shields, but it’s only one shield.

So, someone scanned the stills from Empire Magazine about X-Men: Days of Future Past. Yep, the quality of the make-up/costume goes from supermodel to half-assed Halloween costume (I’m still looking at you, Quicksilver! And that better not be Scarlet Witch!).

Talking about that, did you see that there’s a Empire Magazine cover of Rogue? But wasn’t she cut out of the movie? Apparently she was only cut from one scene… or rather the whole scene with her in it was cut out. But she’s totally still in the movie, you guys! Bryan Singer pinky-promises! Bet the poor girl is just a background character.

It does not mean that we won’t see her in the film. Also, I hope to make the sequence available on the DVD as she was quite wonderful in it. She is an important part of the X-Men family. I ‘m very pleased she will remain as one of Empire’s anniversary covers.

Singer also talked about X-Men: Apocalypse and the notion of Ancient Ali- I mean, Ancient Mutants!

One thing that interests me is the notion of ancient mutants. What would people thousands of years ago, without the benefit of science, think mutants were? And more importantly, what would mutants thousands of years ago think they were? Gods? Titans? Angels? Demons? And if such mutants did exist thousands of years ago, what became of them? Did one survive?

And to end this X-Men news, producer Lauren Shuler Donner is on board with Channing Tatum as Gambit. I’m still not convinced. I will be as shallow as the fanboys and say Tatum’s face is too potato-y to be that beautiful thieving Cajun!

I’m dying to do a Gambit movie with Channing Tatum. That doesn’t have to be a great big movie. It’s a thief in New Orleans, it’s a whole different story. He’s on board, and I have to get the studio on board. How can anyone resist Channing? He’s such a sweetheart.

Here are many pics of Game of Thrones Season 4, where nobody looks happy, expect for this smug bastard:

But we all know how he ends up, amirite?
