While at TIFF, Johnny Depp talked about the late Wes Craven, the guy who gave him his start~

Wes Craven was brave enough to give me the gig based on his daughter’s opinion. I guess she had read with a bunch of actors, and after the casting sessions, she said, ‘No, that’s the guy.’ I always think of her for putting me in this mess, and certainly Wes Craven for being very brave to give me this gig. But he was a good man — so rest in peace, old Wes.

Tom Hiddleston, also at TIFF, said he “literally has nothing” and that he doesn’t “know what’s happening” with Thor: Ragnarok. Man, Kevin Feige better put Loki in that film! As for another work in progress, Hiddles has been “digging around in some dark material” for Kong: Skull Island. As usual, dude seems very excited and loves to do his homework. What a nerd~

There’s something very heroic about my character in Skull Island. He’s an adventurer, he’s an explorer. I mean, it’s a King Kong film. There we go. [laughs] The way Jordan Vogt-Roberts has conceived of it, there’s something in there which I find very compelling about King Kong as an emblem of the power of nature in some way, and man’s relationship to it. I think he’s got just brilliant ideas about exploring that. Incredible sequences, a particular context they put King Kong in that you’ve never see him in before, so I’m really excited.

Talking about apes, Woody Harrelson will play a villain in the new Planet of the Apes movie called the Colonel. I wonder if it’s an alias, or an actual title, and if we’ll even know the character’s actual name. Sounds ominous, tho!

Seems both Deadpool and Gambit film will interact with the current X-Men movie universe, according to Simon Kinberg. You know, the one where the awful movies never happened!

Feast your eyes in this Dragon Ball Z fan animation. Well, anything is better than that movie I still pretend doesn’t exist. I mean, look how much of a creepy mofo Majin Buu looks! I hope this tribute lives up to its teasers!

WEDNESDAY

DC boss Diane Nelson talked about their superhero strategy vs. Marvel’s at Variety Entertainment and Technology Summit. Apparently, they are “so talent driven”, that focuing on a single universe of connect storylines “could end up handcuffing our creators into trying to work with the same storyline or force them to hold back characters or introduce certain characters”. And then uses Gotham, which bitch please, as much as I love Gotham, it was not the best example of their estrategy working if they are talking about “talent”~

Scott Glenn will return as Stick for Daredevil Season 2. Which is awesome, because he was awesome and a fan favourite, even if his presence didn’t aid the main storyline much.

There was a rumor early in the day that Jenna Coleman was quitting Doctor Who… again. Yeah, girl has been rumored to leave the show before, but this time it was legit! The reason why? Girl got a new gig! She’ll be Queen Victoria in a major ITV drama series. While I am not that sad to see her go, I particularly didn’t wante her to either. Any problems I have with Clara are totally Moffat’s fault, because Jenna herself was adorable~

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2 has got a new trailer. But I didn’t make a separate post because it is basically a flashback to all the (few) moments between Katniss and her sister Prim, except for the very last scene. I do wonder if they’ve just realised Prim’s importance. Considering what happens in the last book. And that’s as spoilery as I can get for those who haven’t read the saga~

Anyway, Gambit has just lost its director. Oh, that’s so bad! Maybe it’s time to recast Channing Tatum. I mean, it could push back the whole production, and I am sure Tatum has better things to do. Right?! OK, fine. Anyway, it sucks that Rupert Wyatt had to go, and the reasons were script complications, which led to increased budged, which lead to delayed production start. And Wyatt had prior committments yo! Tatum must have those too, right! With all these delays?!
