The Fangirly Diary of a Geek Girl: There is no mask~

FRIDAY

I know I wish Happy Birthday at the end of the column, but I have to add the Harry Potter stars wishing the best for J.K. Rowling on her 50th birthday~ Congrats, J.K., you earned it.

On something different, here’s the trailer for the Attack on Titan live-action series. Yes, besides the two movies, Attack on Titan gets a three-episode series called Attack on Titan: Counter Rockets. It will tie in to the movies and will focus on the everyday lives of soldiers and their not-so-glamorous life of battling those pesky flesh-devouring Titans. The first 30-minute episode will premiere August 15, and the other two will be appearing over the following two Saturdays. So yep, the series will be nice and cozy between the two movies, opening on August 1 and September 19.

Besides that, the comedic spinoff manga Attack on Titan: Junior High will now be an anime, which will premiere on October. Because sure, work on a cute and silly spoof anime adaptation, instead of the second season of the freaking legit anime!

I’ve yet to watch Fear the Walking Dead, which is fine since it premieres on August 23rd, but the little I have seen thanks to the promotions seems interesting. I hope it really is, and in fact, more than interesting it is awesome, since it’s been confirmed it will get a 15-episode second season. The first season, just like The Walking Dead, will only have 6 episodes. Deadline described the series like this:

The L.A.-set Fear The Walking Dead centers on a blended and often broken family of schoolteachers in the early days of what would become the zombie apocalypse. Filmed in the City of Angels and Vancouver, the companion series takes place roughly during the four-week time period that The Walking Dead’s Rick Grimes was unconscious in the hospital.

Here’s our first look at Lucy Lawless on Ash vs Evil Dead. Lawless remains flawless~ And what can she say about her character Ruby? Well:

She’s a bad bitch and she’s stalking Ash Williams. She’s got a big chip on her shoulder and a hot obsession.

Also, we are promised lots of gore in Starz, said Sam Raimi!

It was very important we found a network that was willing to go to the limit and really let us go anywhere we wanted with the humor, outrageous horror [and] crazy amounts of gore, which is one of the hallmarks of the Evil Dead films.

The new batmobile in Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice is going to be a “sexy tank”. And by sexy production designer Patrick Tatopoulos means old but still moving. So sexy~

He is not driving a Formula 1 car, he’s driving a tank that is very sexy looking. Batman is rougher, tougher, and grungier. So everything is rough: the weapons, the suit and the car. There are machine guns mounted on the front. When you first see the Batmobile, it is being fixed. It is not – boom! – coming out of the garage brand new.

On slightly less sexy DC news, Wonder Woman will begin shooting in London this (North Hemisphere) fall, while Justice League, will begin shooting next (North Hemisphere) spring.

The Fantastic Four cast got asked what would they want in a sequel. Jamie Bell (The Thing) was the most articulated:

The job of the next film is taking it further and having the characters already established, seeing them interact in the very famous kind of way. Things between me and Johnny get very antagonistic. More of a blossoming love story between Reed and Sue. More of a family dynamic. Stuff like that would be great. There’s a wealth of material and with a 90 minute run time of an origin story it’s very difficult to fit it all in.

Oh, and he also wants the Silver Surfer, even if he knows that’s kinda unlikely in order to avoid the pattern of the previous franchise. On the other hand, Michael B. Jordan (Human Torch) wants Namor. Sadly (or not), nobody gets Namor because he belongs to Universal for the time being.

Here’s a clip showing how life went for poor abducted child Peter Quill. Also, some Yondu and other no-so-friendly aliens. It’s part of Guardians of the Galaxy: Origins, a series of short animated prequels to the Guardians of the Galaxy cartoon.

Jessica Jones‘ title logo has been officially revealed!

Ever since her short-lived stint as a Super Hero ended in tragedy, Jessica Jones has been rebuilding her personal life and career as a hot-tempered, sardonic, badass private detective in Hell’s Kitchen, New York City. Plagued by self-loathing, and a wicked case of PTSD, Jessica battles demons from within and without, using her extraordinary abilities as an unlikely champion for those in need… especially if they’re willing to cut her a check.

And that’s it for the week. Before I go, I want to wish Happy Birthday to Sandra Bullock, Jason Statham, Helen Mirren, Bugs Bunny, Wil Wheaton, Terry Crews, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Christopher Nolan, J.K. Rowling and Harry Potter!
