The Fangirly Diary of a Geek Girl: The director DC deserves, but not the one it needs?

TUESDAY

That Han Solo Star Wars Story film has started shooting in Pinewood. And Chris Miller, who directs with Phil Lord, shared a picture on Twitter:

Chuck Wendig’s Star Wars: Aftermath trilogy will come to an end with Aftermath: Empire’s End on February 21. An excerpt made it online, and in it we’ll learn that Lando Calrissian has been a tad too busy to pay much attention to his old friends or their babies. I might have to check the book if only to know what he ends up gifting baby Kylo Ren… I guess Ben Solo (Ben Organa?) back then. And now I want toddler Kylo Ren cosplaying as Lando with “a cute little cape and a mustache”. Anyway, here’s the first part of the synopsis:

As the final showdown between the New Republic and the Empire draws near, all eyes turn to a once-isolated planet: Jakku. The Battle of Endor shattered the Empire, scattering its remaining forces across the galaxy. But the months following the Rebellion’s victory have not been easy. The fledgling New Republic has suffered a devastating attack from the Imperial remnant, forcing the new democracy to escalate their hunt for the hidden enemy.

Star Trek: Discovery won’t be ready for some time, but we still got a new teaser that is all about nostalgia and the legacy of Gene Rodenberry. In the second half of the teaser we get behind-the-scenes shots tho! Check out a tiny bit of the sets, costumes, props, make-up and effects~

Marvel’s Cloak And Dagger, which will air on Disney-owned US cable channel Freeform, has found its protagonists with Olivia Holt and Aubrey Joseph. And yeah, they fit the part.

The comic book heroes, also known as Tandy Bowen and Tyrone Johnson, are traditionally pair of teens from different backgrounds who bond when they’re both dealing with emerging superpowers. Tandy’s ability is emitting light daggers, while Tyrone can engulf people in darkness. They also start to fall for each other, and their relationship only makes things more complicated. On the show, the focus will be their coming-of-age story, showing how Tandy has overcome family tragedy and the closed-off Tyrone deals with opening up his life once he meets her.

John Wick: Chapter 2 will open in theaters very soon, but director Chad Stahelski has more than a few ideas for the future of John Wick, including a potential TV show:

Lionsgate is very interested in doing a John Wick TV show, and that seems very appealing to us, to give those creative ideas to that entity, because I think in TV you could really expand on what that is, and greater than we could in just a two-hour film.

In anime/manga news, did you know there’s a manga called Dragon Ball Side-Story: The Case of Being Reincarnated as Yamcha? Yep, it’s a spin-off where a kid from the real world gets reincarnated into Yamcha back from the Dragon Ball days when the original gang summoned Shen Long for the first time. Kid knows what happens to Yamcha and he ain’t gonna let that happen! So, how that awesome/crazy/basically fanfiction idea came to be? With the help of booze, of course! Or so an unnamed editor from Shueisha claims. And you know what? Dragon Ball creator Akira Toriyama is totally fine with that. He even made suggestions!

Then we have Naruto‘s Masashi Kishimoto talking about the difficulties behind creating the new Boruto series, like worries that the story will be too similar to the original, and the scales of the fights will be smaller. As for the tone of the series, the answer is definitely lighter and apt for everybody.

As it went along, the Naruto stop kept getting more introspective and darker and darker. So for Boruto, I want it to be a little bit more happy and fun. Something that the younger boys and girls can also enjoy

And keeping with the Naruto theme, here are some pictures of Team Hebi/Team Taka from the live-action play! Damn, the cast keeps being on-point!
