The Fangirly Diary of a Geek Girl: The best place by the fire

THURSDAY

OMG! Marvel Entertainment and Square Enix are teaming up for a “multi-year, multi-game” partnership starting with The Avengers project.

The Avengers project is being designed for gamers worldwide and will be packed with all the characters, environments, and iconic moments that have thrilled longtime fans of the franchise. Featuring a completely original story, it will introduce a universe gamers can play in for years to come.

Black Panther finally goes into production (I don’t know why I kept thinking it started filming months ago!), and thus we were given the full cast. Now it’s confirmed that Martin Freeman will be returning as Everett K. Ross, along with Andy Serkis as Klaw, Florence Kasumba as the perfection that was Ayo, and John Kani as King T’Chaka… so I guess we are getting flashbacks. We also got a new plot synopsis:

Black Panther follows T’Challa who, after the events of Captain America: Civil War, returns home to the isolated, technologically advanced African nation of Wakanda to take his place as King. However, when an old enemy reappears on the radar, T’Challa’s mettle as King and Black Panther is tested when he is drawn into a conflict that puts the entire fate of Wakanda and the world at risk.

Habemus Beauty and the Beast‘s character posters… and why we are so focused in the “human appearances” of the Beast and his staff? Also, the motion posters totally look like Hogwarts portraits!

Not content with giving us Jyn Erso’s lost years in book form, we are getting a Star Wars novel with our Space Asians Husbands, Rogue One‘s Chirrut and Baze. Star Wars: Guardians of the Whills, writen by Greg Rucka, will tell us what happened when the Kyber Temple on Jedha was taken over by the Empire, and give us more info about these Guardians. Just like Rebel Rising, this book will be released on May 2, 2017.

FRIDAY

John Hurt, our Storyteller, our War Doctor, our Ollivander, and many memorable characters more, passed away at 77. While I have seen him in plenty of movies ever since, and part of many of my fandoms, he will forever and always remain The Storyteller for me, from the first time I saw him on my TV back when I was a child.

Stranger Things‘s Millie B. Brown joins the cast of Godzilla: King of the Monsters, by director Michael Dougherty (Krampus). No news on what exactly is her role tho!

A couple of musicals based on movies based on books are coming! Well, not to my country, but I mean coming to be in general. There’s a The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical at the off-Broadway Lucille Lortel Theatre starting March 23rd. And then there’s The Devil Wears Prada with a production headed to Broadway with music from freaking Elton John and Paul Rudnick.

And that’s it for the week. Before I go, I want to wish Happy Birthday to Geena Davis, Jim Jarmusch, Ellen DeGeneres, Alan Cumming and Rosamund Pike.
