The Fangirly Diary of a Geek Girl: Swords, bites and detectives!

MONDAY

I just love pictures of celebrities I like chilling~ Here are some of Benedict Cumberbatch and Robert Downey Jr. at the backstage of the PGA Awards~

And here’s what our Posh Alien Prince had to say about it:

I sat down on the sofa with Robert Downey, Jr. last night, and we had our first conversation and shared notes on playing Sherlock Holmes.  This is the most dramatized fictional character of all time, so there’s a lot to talk about.

Benedict talked about Sherlock on the Television Critics Association winter press tour. Dude does love it!

“It’s a schedule-providing thing. The [producers] probably had a tougher time with it. I play enough other mad people to vary the palate of what I’m scrabbling around in my head as a storyteller. I love it and find it very invigorating. He’s really hard work, [but] I love him to bits.

Louise Brealey talks her Sherlock experience and the fans she’s got because of Molly Hooper being unthreatening:

One of the interesting things is that they come from all over the world, literally. A lot of young Chinese women really, really love Molly. The Philippines. Russia. There’s lots [of fans] all over Europe. America, obviously. Canada. Everywhere. They just really like her. She’s unthreatening.

Benedict Cumberbatch, Martin Freeman, and Mark Gatiss star in Sherlock iPhone app trailer~

Rumor has it that Judi Dench is being checked to be Mon Mothma in Star Wars: Episode VII. The character only actually had one scene in Return Of The Jedi as she coordinated the rebel attack on the new Death Star and was played by Caroline Blakiston.

Talking about rumors, here’s WB/DC’s (evil) master plan to win over Disney/Marvel (finally!). Will it work?!

Cliffhangers, will actually be one key component in WB’s master plan to dethrone Marvel Studios. WB realizes that Marvel films are famous for their mid- and post-credits scenes, and have no interest in copying from Marvel’s playbook. WB’s plan, is to end each of their films with a cliffhanger, setting up the next film in their cinematic universe. WB also wants to do short films for their lesser known characters. These short films would be played at the end of each film. That’s a pretty interesting way of taking on Marvel’s trademark post-credits scenes.

In totally confirmed news, we are getting a Captain America: The Winter Soldier trailer during the Super Bowl!

Michael Rooker tells us what to expect from Guardians of the Galaxy. And yep, it’s pretty much what I expect!

Lovely, beautiful colors. What do you expect? It is a superhero movie. And I hope that you see it, and you’re going to be going ‘I’m going to see this again.’ That’s what I hope.

ABC’s entertainment president Paul Lee talked about Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. on the TCA, the most important things for me were Sif being there and the identity of the Clairvoyant~

We’re doing a lot of work, and I’m really enjoying doing this with Marvel. We can announce that Lady Sif is coming in, in Episode 15. We’re shooting it now, and that’s going to be absolutely integral to that hour of television. And then, there’s going to be this really cool arc to the end of the season. You’re going to find out who the Clairvoyant is, and it’s going to be very, very cool.

Sir Ian McKellen praises Game Of Thrones’ Iwan Rheon as his co-star in Vicious~

He may have been over impressed by working with two old codgers, but frankly, the reverse is true on working with young people who know effortlessly how to be charming and get a laugh and behave as a … professional like Iwan does is – it’s a joy and I think, why did it take me so long to learn what he already seems to know.

New pics from the Rurouni Kenshin live action sequels: Rurôni Kenshin: The Great Kyôto Fire arc and Rurôni Kenshin: The End of a Legend arc.

  1. I was actually ok with the new look of the Powerpuff Girls. The actual special was up and down in terms of writing quality (though the voices all returned great), but once I got used to the shading and movement I even found a few pretty moments. I know I’m in a very small minority in that opinion, though, and my friends who are more knowledgeable about cartoons weren’t into it.
