The Fangirly Diary of a Geek Girl: #SayNoToHYDRACap

THURSDAY

We have some new stills and new posters for Independence Day: Resurgence, where aliens still hate our landmarks. Here are the ones with the international ones: Big Ben (London), the Eiffel Tower (Paris), and the Marina Bay Sands towers (Singapore).

We know that Robert Downey Jr. will be in Spider-Man: Homecoming. But what about Chris Evans? Well, he sure won’t mind being in that film! I wouldn’t either, even if I wouldn’t know exactly how could that happen when Cap is on the run. Maybe just a small role? At least, it’s way easier than being in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2!

Guardians would be fun, wouldn’t it? It’s very outer space-y. Cap’s more of an Earth-bound guy. Maybe the next Spider-Man [films]. Those are going to be fantastic, and I think Tom [Holland]’s just a great actor, so that might be a fun one to pop up into.

Here’s the preview of the comicbook adaptation of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, which will hits stores in late June and it will be a 6-issue limited series. Here are a couple of key scenes with my flagship and my garbage ship: perfect boyfriends Poe Dameron and Finn, and evil space boyfriends Kylo Ren and General Hux.

FRIDAY

We have lots (actually 30 to be exact) of new stills from Star Trek Beyond, and they are quite high resolution! Here’s a picture of new ally Jayleh, Spock and Bones~

It’s rumor time! Miles Morales could be the focus of Sony’s animated Spider-Man movie in 2018! Now, we know that Phil Lord and Chris Miller’s animated feature won’t be part of the MCU, so this would mean Miles Morales wouldn’t be part of the MCU for a long time. Then again, we have MCU movies scheduled through 2019 so no hurry. But for now this is a rumor, so lets wait until official info is released or until the film’s December 21st, 2018 release date if you manage to be remain spoiler free.

DC Universe: Rebirth #1 was so well received (by both critics and the public) that it has completely sold out. So we are getting a second printing, available on June 8th, which will feature an updated cover. Also, it will be presented a square bound format that will give the issue a spine.

Rebirth is a return to the themes of optimism, hope and incredible superhero storytelling that has made DC and its characters the favorite of fans the world over for more than 80 years!

Here’s the cover art for Disney’s Gargoyles Cinestory Comic. It will be released on July 12, 2016, and it’s an adaptation of the first five episodes of the series, called “Awakening”, using screen captures from the original animation. And yes, it really makes me “wish this team were rocking a monthly comic”. Dammit, Disney, do something with this franchise. Dammit, contact creator Greg Weisman and work something with Marvel dammit. I even find myself with a Netflix animated series when I am feeling greedy.

Finally on manga/anime news, this year is the 20th anniversary of the Cardcaptor Sakura manga and CLAMP are launching a sequel manga series this June 3. The manga will take place after titular character Sakura graduates from elementary school and starts her first year of junior high; a mysterious dream later, hijinks ensue. But that’s not it! We are also getting an anime project inspired on said manga!

And that’s it for the week. Before I go, I want to wish Happy Birthday to Doug Jones, Octavia Spencer, Ian McKellen, Cillian Murphy, Helena Bonham Carter and Paul Bettany.
