The Fangirly Diary of a Geek Girl: #SaveTheDay

THURSDAY

There is hope yet! Snowpiercer might be released uncut in the US (and hopefully my country… some day)! Bong Joon-ho himself offers a ray on sunshine! Also, apparently the original cut tested higher than the Weinstein butched one. Also, there are new pics~

I stayed in New York for two weeks before coming here to Mar del Plata, mostly because of this matter, and the good news is that after all the speculation and comments about that 20-minute cut, and considering the original version that was released in Korea and France also will be released in Japan and Hong Kong, we have been talking a lot about keeping the original cut for the U.S. release, so what I can say is…have faith.

So yeah, apparently the only way for Disney/Marvel to get Spider-Man back from Sony, is from their cold dead hands. Sony totally wants to cash in on all Spider-Man related characters and plans multiple spin-offs, like Venom who has been heavily rumoured. The Co-Chairman Amy Pascal told the investors:

We are going to access Marvel’s full world of Spider-Man characters, so be on the lookout for new heroes and villains.

It was also said that Sony has “number of scripts in the works” and is “working closely with Marvel and Disney” on moving forward, whatever that means. I hope it means crossover and not what characters they can fight over or have mutual rights (like Fox and Marvel/Disney over Quicksilver).

Chris Pratt got to work with Benicio del Toro in Guardians of the Galaxy, and he only had nice words to say about the experience~

I got to work with Benicio Del Toro on Guardians of the Galaxy and it was awesome. He is truly an artist, and captivating to watch. I learned so much watching him. He’s like the king of behavior. He’s the kind of guy that is doing something physically that isn’t on the page, it’s just something that he brought. I inspire to be able to do something like that.

We are getting more Thor: The Dark World concept art, and besides being seriously pretty (with a dash of costume porn), and quite interesting (we also get Selvig’s ‘Convergence’ notes), we see scenes that never come to pass. These are some of them:

BTW, the movie has also earned over $500 million at the worldwide box office! Yay! Get money, Thor! Specially since The Hunger Games: Catching Fire is going to slow you down from now on~ I want that part three, hopefull with Amora… and maybe Surtur?

FRIDAY

Happy Birthday to Mark Ruffalo, Scarlett Johansson and Mads Mikkelsen!

There’s a J.R.R. Tolkien biopic in the works, and for now it has the totally original name of… Tolkien. The movie would focus on his experiences at Pembroke College and as a soldier in World War I, and how it influenced him and his work. I hope the Tolkien estate agrees to it!

Tom Hiddleston has been rehearsing once more for Coriolanus, which begins performances at the Donmar Warehouse on December 6. He declared himself “battle-ready”, and if the pictures are anything to go by, I totally believe him!

He and the rest of the cast also got the chance to get their grubby paws all over the First Folio edition of the play. They weren’t wearing gloves, the travesty! I mean, I’m sure it’s fine or else they wouldn’t be allowed to touch it… but still! Oh well, Hiddles was quite giddy about the experience~

It’s like walking into history. I don’t mean to be sentimental about it but it is quite astonishing to be sitting in front of something that is that old and recognise the words and know that this is what we’re doing today.

Let’s finish with more Doctor Who news. It was an eventful day! Not only did the drama An Adventure in Space and Time premiered on BBC (and made Whovians cry), but Matt Smith and David Tennant appeared on The Graham Norton Show (and made Whovians laugh). Also, Jenna-Louise Coleman and Matt Smith (and Steven Moffat) were at the launch of the Doctor Who Official 50th Celebration in London, and both looked quirky and cute (Moffat looked the same). And finally, there’s gonna be a Doctor Who comedy special! The 15-minute episode was written and directed by 5th Doctor Peter Davison. Check the twitter account for more news!

And that it’s for the week. Before I go to watch “The Day of the Doctor”, here’s a nice video of The Doctor on the Super Cafe~
