The Fangirly Diary of a Geek Girl: Picture Perfect

FRIDAY

Here are the pretty opening credits sequence for Marvel and Netflix’s Daredevil:

Stan Lee seems quite chuffed that Spider-Man is now part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and he also said Andrew Garfield (and Tobey Maguire) did good jobs as Spider-Man~

Of course, the more we can get them all together like the Avengers, it’s fun. And the public, they love those kinds of movies. And so do I.

Also, the Grandpa of Geeks has got a bigger role than usual in Avengers: Age of Ultron. Excelsior!

Not only am I in Age of Ultron, I’m in two scenes. One scene followed immediately by another one, so you must not miss it.

We knew Joss Whedon won’t direct the Avenger: Infinity War movies (that’s the job of the Russo brothers), but we didn’t know why! The reason? He’s getting too old for that sh*t! That shit meaning directing “ensemble piece”~

Every movie I have ever made has been an ensemble piece of increasingly enormous proportions. That many balls in the air, it’s only going to get bigger with Infinity War. I’m not going to be able to give it what I would need to. It’s a young man’s game.

Entertaining Weekly has yet to finish releasing all the info they have on the Summer movies, and here’s more info on Avengers: Age of Ultron: like Hawkeye gets to be awesome, the secret of Loki’s staff, there’s Ulysses Klaue but no Black Panther (or Captain Marvel or Doctor Strange), Vision has an important choice to make, someone important dies, etc~

James Wan, director of Furious 7 and The Conjuring, is the likely frontrunner to direct Aquaman for DC/Warner, according to The Hollywood Reporter. That or he could direct the 8th Fast & Furious movie~ Dude is popular now! His next job is The Conjuring 2: The Enfield Poltergeist.

Talking about frontrunner, Eddie Redmayne could star in the Harry Potter spinoff, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. Yep, he could be our Newt Scamander. The movie is scheduled for November 18, 2016.

Sofia Boutella, the awesome gorgeous and deadly Gazelle in Kingsman: The Secret Service, landed a lead role in Star Trek 3! We don’t know anything about her role, only that it is significant… and maybe she can be a beautiful Klingon lady who will help beutiful Klingon dude Idris Elba. Man, I don’t even know if there’s going to be Klingons in this movie but I want it! Make it so, director Justin Lin!

In somewhat related news, Star Trek alumnus Brent Spiner will return to Independence Day 2. Wait what?! Didn’t his character, Dr. Brakish Okun, die in the original film after that alien attacked him/joined with him psychically? Apparently, as far back as 2009, the character could have been in a coma.

He said he talked to Dean Devlin recently, and apparently there has been some deal made with 20th Century Fox and he asked Dean if he’s dead and Dean said, “No. The first scene in the movie is a hammer hitting a board and we pan out and they’re re-building the White House. The second scene in the movie is Okun waking up from a coma.” And Brent made a joke about how it’s probably Okun’s Evil Twin, Lore Okun!

OMG! Ian McKellen will play Cogsworth in Disney’s Beauty and the Beast! What with Kevin Kline, Emma Thompson, Luke Evans, Emma Watson and Dan Stevens… I’m freaking loving this cast!

We are totally getting a second season of Sailor Moon Crystal this Summer/Winter (depending if you are on the North or South hemisphere)

Adi Granov shows off the awesome covers for the graphic novel adaptations of the Star Wars movies. Specifically, the fifth and sixth one (or second and third of the original trilogy), since we have already seen the cover of Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope, which will hit shelves this May.

And that’s it for the week. Before I go, I want to wish Happy Birthday to Robert Downey Jr., Hugo Weaving, Hayley Atwell, Michael Rooker, Sofia Boutella, Jackie Chan, Elle Fanning and Charlie Hunnam.
