The Fangirly Diary of a Geek Girl: On a journey to the past~

THURSDAY

On Thanksgiving Day, Rick & Morty fans got Mr. Poopybutthole’s backstory~

Justice League had a great debut in China of $52.1 million, which also helped the country set a new box office record. They reached a new milestone of $7.55 billion in ticket revenue, a significant increase from 2016’s $6.58 billion, representing growth from last year’s 3.7% to 15%.

Despite whatever rumors said, Joss Whedon is still involved with the Batgirl movie, as it was confirmed by sources to both EW and Den of Geek. Right now he’s currently at work on the script and remains attached to direct as well. Then again, directors can be changed, just ask Star Wars‘ Kathleen Kennedy~

I don’t usually share Mondo posters, but I just really wanted to share Thor: Ragnarok‘s new psychedelic one because it’s amazing! And ready for Black Friday. Here are the two variants:

This week we had a couple of incredible special effects samples. First, the Star Wars: The Last Jedi featurette that details how the “vulptex”, a.k.a. the “crystal fox” from the trailer, came to life… with puppetry and CGI! And then we had another blend of CGI and animatronic with Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom footage posted by Colin Trevorrow, in which Chris Pratt lets a baby velociraptor snuggle his finger.

FRIDAY

Spawn creator Todd McFarlane talked about the filming of the reboot on a tight budget. Aso, totally confirms the film will be set in New York. And there’s also a sneak peek of the script!

We’re going to evaluate all that so cause, again, if you save $100,000 here, $200,000 here, half a million dollars here, it may allow you to do another trick or go get another actor or something. you’re basically just moving the financial pieces around to get the most bang for your buck and we’re going to do all that.

Denis Villeneuve is ready to take on another sci-fi masterpiece, Frank Herbert’s Dune. And man, the dude is obsessed:

I’m totally focused on Dune right now. Obsessed — I dream about it all the time. I don’t know if it’s going to be possible, I don’t know if I will make the movie. I don’t know if we will all agree on the screenplay, I don’t know. Maybe in six months I will be unemployed, but for now I’m dreaming about Dune.

There was a character missing from the Thor: Ragnarok concept art shown before. Yep, Loki. And here he is with a colorful alternate version costume!

Ben Mendelsohn, who may or may not be the villain in Captain Marvel, said that playing Doctor Doom would be a dream role. Is he being coy? I mean Doctor Doom is a great villain, but if he’s going to be Skrull leader in Captain Marvel villain then what’s up with that!

Doctor Doom is the greatest comic character of all time. That’s a great role. The thing that’s appealing about Victor is the damage and trauma, the loss of the family, the wrong done to him and then the takeover, the revenge, and then the protectiveness of Latveria wrapped in that Cold War vibe. There’s something about the combination of that. What actually makes him great is his caring bit.

Check out these 58 hi-res images from Star Wars: The Last Jedi. Most of them I have seen before, but some are new to me. But hey, not I was zoom in for all the details! Here’s Snoke’s huge floating head hologram compensating for something and looking all pissed off at General Hux~

And that’s it for the week. Before I go, I want to wish Happy Birthday to Owen Wilson, Jodie Foster, Adam Driver, Ming-Na Wen, Mark Ruffalo, Scarlett Johansson, Mads Mikkelsen and Jamie Lee Curtis.
