The Fangirly Diary of a Geek Girl: Of Thrones and Princes~

THURSDAY

Some talk about Man of Steel, where Zack Snyder mentions his Superman won’t be overpowered:

It’s amazing what [Superman] is capable of but [Henry’s] a slightly more down to Earth version of the character. I don’t think he can hold up a continent… Superman has been broken for a little while.

Yep, that sounded like a dig to Bryan Singer’s Superman Returns. Also, Michael Shannon says Zod is totally not a villain!

He’s not a villain any more than any other General fighting to protect his people. He doesn’t like to just hurt people and steal diamonds; he’s focused on being successful at his job.

Now let’s talk about the cute dragons in Game of Thrones. Because everybody loves dragons! Apparently they are all (ok, half) grown-up and not so cute anymore. Of course they will always be Daenerys’s cute babies, says showrunner Dan Weiss:

They’re still cute to Daenerys. They’re her babies. But her babies can burn down a house in a few minutes and they’re getting increasingly terrifying to everyone around her. At some point she will have to reckon with the fact her babies are all grown up.

Sadly, Daenarys’ sexy dead husband won’t be in Guardians of the Galaxy. Yup, bye-bye James Momoa. Hello Dave Bautista! The wrestler will be Drax the Destroyer. Oh well~

Talking about wrestler-turned-actors, Dwayne Johnson talks about the possibility of being in The Expendables 3:

I like Sly. He’s been a buddy for some time. That continues to grow, too and I’m excited about that and I know a lot of guys are. I love the first one and I’m excited about the second one. Sure, if he needs somebody to hunt somebody down, he knows where I’m at.

He also geeks about Star Wars. Where he’s totally game for the new trilogy! You hear that, J.J. Abrams?

Taking about Abrams, if he cannot direct the third movie in the Star Trek‘s new franchise, Bryan Singer so can!

I’m like, the pressure of doing it would freak me out. Or might freak me out. That being said, if someone presented a story and a structure and the original director was supporting you, really supporting you and producing with you and behind you then maybe it would be a great experience.

FRIDAY

And that’s it for the week. Before I go, let’s celebrate/commemorate all the birthday we have this week. First, Iron Man turns 50! Yep, it was in 1963 where Iron Man made his first appeance in Tales of Suspense #39. Then we have a couple of Doctor Who birthdays with John Barrowman and Alex Kingston, curiously both actors are right now in Arrow. And finally, let’s commemorate writer Douglas Adams, best known as the author of The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, who would have been 61 this week.
