The Fangirly Diary of a Geek Girl: No longer Strange!

TUESDAY

Lucky British will have the Guardians of the Galaxy DVD/Blu-ray sooner than Americans. They will get it at November 24 instead of December 9th. Also, new box art! And it is so awesome!

Joe and Anthony Russo talk about the possibility of Red Skull in Captain America 3 (and beyond), and it’s totally a non-answer~ But, I like that they are considering it! But would Hugo Weaving be back? He didn’t seem to want to!

Red Skull, he’s a fantastical character and didn’t necessarily fit for Cap 2 and especially because it was about the fall of S.H.I.E.L.D. Certainly Hydra exists and that’s his legacy, but there’s something interesting about the fact that his legacy outlived the skull. And they’re still dealing with the demons of it, but not necessarily him. That doesn’t preclude him from returning, because he’s certainly in the rogues gallery of Captain America characters.

Our prayers have been listened to, Dominic Cooper will return as Howard Stark in Agent Carter! Now I need The Howling Commandos there, like in the little scene in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Also, I need more female characters. Too many dicks on the dance floor, yo!

Miles Teller, new Reed Richards in Fantastic Four reboot, talks about the differences between the Fantastic Four movies from 2000s, and the reboot:

All those actors were a lot older, their characters were in different places. The tone of this film is completely different: We don’t have Michael Chiklis in a big Styrofoam thing, and I think that [a more grounded approach] is what people are into — X-Men: First Class is doing that. You’re dealing with these characters but you’re making them real people in how they exist day-to-day. People wanted it to be taken more seriously than the kind of Dick Tracy, kitschy, overly comic-book world.

LOL, dude, you are not that much younger than the other actor that played Reed Richard, just like 5 years! I mean the age of the characters you play maybe, but not the actors!

Ben Affleck that living up to Batman is a bigger challenge than living up to a best-selling book like Gone Girl. His answer has Fifty Shades of Grey and Star Wars in the same sentence. I don’t think I can ever forgive him.

Probably the comicbook franchise, if only because Batman has been around since the 1930s and a fixed part of American culture. But, anytime you build a character when the audience has a firm belief on how it should be, like Fifty Shades or Star Wars… It can be an asset and a challenge. Anyone who did it would face that challenge. The truth is, it all melts away once people see the movie.

Rodney Crowell, country singer and country mentor of Tom Hiddleston in I Saw The Light, took a selfie with his pupil and only had nice things to say about Hiddles… here’s an excerpt:

After nearly a month spent collaborating with this gifted artist, I’m as respectful of the man’s work ethic as I’m mystified by his transformational skills. Without a doubt, the filmmakers chose the right actor for the job.

WEDNESDAY

After blurry and derpy images of Benedict Cumberbatch as Richard III in The Hollow Crown: The War Of Roses, here’s an official look! I still don’t like the weave, but he looks much better! Smolder, Benny, smolder!

Adrianne Palicki says Mockingbird could join the MCU, or at least it’s been discussed. Well, Hawkeye and her are a team for some time, so it could work.

Absolutely – that was one of the things that was discussed when I was coming on for the part, and you know, we’ll see what happens. It’s such a nice world that we live in that crossover can happen so often now which in the past it never really did so, to see these worlds come together on the small screen and the big screen is really cool.

Launch trailer of Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor which premieres next week on October 7th!
