The Fangirly Diary of a Geek Girl: Nice and Accurate Prophecies!

THURSDAY

OMG! We are getting a Good Omens miniseries from Neil Gaiman… and Amazon Studios. Dammit, I don’t want to pay for Prime Video! Oh wait, BBC Studios is also involved. Yay! Based on the 1990 awesome fantasy novel by Neil Gaiman and the late Terry Pratchett, the  six-episode adaptation is targeted for a 2018 debut. Pratchett gave his blessing before his passing in 2015. Gaiman, who will be writer and showrunner, had this to say:

Almost thirty years ago, Terry Pratchett and I wrote the funniest novel we could about the end of the world, populated with angels and demons, not to mention an eleven-year-old Antichrist, witchfinders and the four horsepeople of the Apocalypse. It became many people’s favourite book. Three decades later, it’s going to make it to the screen. I can’t think of anyone we’d rather make it with than BBC Studios, and I just wish Sir Terry were alive to see it.

The newest trailer for Logan was up on the internet, and I really must comment on my appreciation to the ones who choose the trailer songs. This time we had Kaleo’s “Way Down We Go”. Anyway, here’s almost 40 pictures from the trailer.

Also, director James Mangold talked about the timeline of the film within the convoluted X-Men cinematic universe:

It’s year 2029 when the movie takes place…There’s an epilogue scene in Days of Future Past which is 2024, or 2023, something like that. I just wanted to get far enough past. My goal was real simple: it was to pick a time where I had enough elbow room that I was clear of existing entanglements.

Another trailer up on the internet was the newest Power Ranger one, where we got out first decent look at many, many things, like Zordon (reminds me of a childhood toy I cannot remember the name of), Alpha 5 (not bad, better than he did as a toy, but still not great), Goldar (still looks like shit, just as awful as he looked as a toy), zords (decent), megazord (tdifferent, not sure if good or bad yet). Anyway, here are almost 30 pictures from the trailer!

FRIDAY

Christina Ricci and the late Miguel Ferrer will lend their voices for the Teen Titans animated movie, Teen Titans: The Judas Contract. Ricci will play Teen Titans member Terra and Ferrer is voicing the mercenary villain Deathstroke. In comicbooks, The Judas Contract storyline was the culmination of years of stories that saw the Titans — young heroes Starfire, Raven, Beast Boy, Nightwing/Robin and Cyborg — face the betrayal of their teammate Terra, who partnered with Deathstroke to take down the team. The lineup of the animated movie, not a literal adaptation but a “inspired by” approach, is slightly altered, as Cyborg is now a member of the Justice League in the comics and animated movies. Blue Beetle is among the new characters on the team.

Damn, Dwayne Johnson dazzled DC so much that they split Shazam! into two films so he can star on his own as the titular character in Black Adam! Dude was originally going to just play that character in Shazam!, which is the tale of a teen boy who can transform into a superhero by speaking the word Shazam!”. Black Adam is his arch-nemesis and a complex antihero with his own interesting story.

And to finish off a day of DC news, this shortlist of six actors (that came out of nowhere, mind you) for Green Lantern Corps‘ Hal Jordan includes… Ryan Reynolds? LOL, wishful thinking. Dude is happy as Deadpool, I think. But if you want to bring someone from Green Lantern, then bring Mark Strong as Sinestro, the only shining light from that sorry excuse of a movie.

And that’s it for the week. Before I go, I want to wish Happy Birthday to Grant Gustin, James Nesbitt, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Jim Carrey, James Earl Jones, Betty White, Dave Bautista and Evan Peters.
