The Fangirly Diary of a Geek Girl: New series. New Doctor. New look.

THURSDAY

Here’s our first look at Jodie Whittaker as The Doctor in, well, Doctor Who. The new duds look comfortable and fashionably challenged… but that’s usually a trademark in the franchise. I expect many cosplays in the weeks to come!

Rian Johnson will get to create a fourth Star Wars trilogy with new characters and separate from the episodic Skywalker saga! Damn, they really must have a lot of faith in Star Wars: The Last Jedi! There is also word that a live-action TV series is being developed for the streaming service Disney wants to launch. Dammit, Disney, I am not made of money!

Marvel releases new Black Panther character posters, full of Black Excellence (and a couple of hobbits). Here’s the royal family of Wakanda:

In box office, Thor: Ragnarok keeps making money and has already reached an incredible $500 million worldwide. It’s doing better than Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and Doctor Strange in the international markt. I wonder if they’ll reach $1 billion. It will be hard with Justice League premiering so soon tho!

Checl out the first Deadpool 2 poster, depicting the cast in the most amazing Thanksgiving Dinner, complete with a Stan Lee cameo~

Ellen Page has joined Netflix’s Umbrella Academy, based on Gerard Way’s bizarre Dark Horse comic series, as the White Violin… the normal one. Here’s a description of her character:

The black sheep of her dysfunctional family. She is the only one of Reginald Hargreeves’ adopted children with no supernatural abilities. A meek and insecure wallflower, Vanya struggles to find her place in the world.

Disney’s streaming service will have a smaller price than Netflix… at least at first. It’s logical since it will have less volumen at the beginning. I expect the price will raise as more content is added. Experts are estimating the starting price at a $5/month fee

FRIDAY

Bruce Wayne tries to recruit Aquaman in this latest clip from Justice League. Dude ain’t having it. That jab at Superman made me snort. Damn, water boy, that’s cold!

Check out Marvel’s Runaway new set of stylish character posters ahead of its debut later this month. Here are my three favourite:

And that’s it for the week. Before I go, I want to wish Happy Birthday to Matthew McConaughey, Sam Rockwell, Famke Janssen, Emma Stone, Tilda Swinton, Sally Field, Thandie Newton, Rebecca Romijn, Taron Egerton and Neil Gaiman.
