The Fangirly Diary of a Geek Girl: Let’s Talk About X~

MONDAY

Well, here’s how Batfleck looks like when he takes a trip to the desert. Yeah, this is probably from that one scene in the Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice trailer with all those grabby people and Bats being quite vocal about his unhappiness~

John C. Reilly confirmed that he’s signed on for Wreck-It Ralph 2. So yep, there’s that. Also, other videogame characters – such as Bowser from Super Mario and M. Bison from Street Fighter – that only appeared on the first film for a bit, will be be expanded upon.

Talking about animated films, Hayao Miyazaki confirmed a new animation project… in CGI! The project is a 10-minute-short about a caterpillar named Boro. It will be shown at the Ghibli Museum in Tokyo. So how’s retirement treating you, Mr. Miyazaki? Seems he can be apart from animation one way or another for a long time!

Take a look at the SDCC trailer for the animated Arrow/The Flash spinoff series Vixen from CW Seed. The trailer looks good and makes me wonder why it wasn’t a live action, if it already has CW/DC characters in it? Anyway, Vixen is about Mari McCabe, a woman whose parents were killed by criminals and ends up inheriting her family’s Tantu Totem, which lates her access to the powers of animals – like the strength of a gorilla or the speed of a cheetah – to fight crime.

TUESDAY

Europe will get a shiny and chrome Mad Max: Fury Road limited Collector’s Edition Blu-Ray set, and life is unfair! Yes, that’s the Interceptor. Dammit.

Talking about Blu-Rays (or maybe DVDs?), Joss Whedon totally crushed fanboys’ dreams of getting an Avengers: Age of Ultron Director‘s Cut. Wait, people were asking for that? Man, what I wanted was a Thor: The Dark World Director’s Cut. There were obviously many scene left on the edit room!

It has always been my ambition never to do a director’s cut of anything, and always to make the movie with the studio that we both want to make. Ultron was very complex. There was a lot of back-and-forth. My instinct is no. Just as an artist, I’m super f*king lazy and that sounds like it would be hard. I don’t think there’s interest in it, right now. You’ll see a bunch of stuff on the DVD in extras that were meant to be there. But the narrative came together very close to the way that I hoped it would, and I don’t think it needs me to constantly tweak it.

In Box Office news, Ant-Man is expected to open big on the weekend, around $115 million – $125 million, but maybe not reach #1 in US of A. Because Minions, apparently~

Tilda Swinton cares not about Marvel snipers and confirmed her Doctor Strange role. Sure, we have yet to have a official confirmation, but this came from her own mouth so… Also, the film may have a different direction to other Marvel movies according to her hints!

I just really liked the premise of this and the idea of playing this character. I’m a Marvel fan and I think this particular world that Doctor Strange goes into is really, really, really exciting. I’m really interested as both an actor and a fan to see what’s done in this particular world. It’s all about creativity. It’s not about everything exploding at the end. It’s about something very different. The idea of playing The Ancient One is really just too tickling. I can’t say no to that!

Supergirl‘s cast and creative team talked about what they want young woman to take away from the series~ Also, promotional banners! Here’s what series creator Greg Berlanti had to say:

I hope that young women and young men see her as just as powerful as the male heroes, so many times we’re breaking stories or we’re pitching stories, and people say ‘would she do that?’ And if it was a guy and we were pitching it, nobody would have even asked those questions.

Stephen Amell talked about the origin of his “Casey Jones” in TMNT 2, and how it may differ from the classic version~

He is not the Casey Jones that a lot of comic fans have come to know and love. He is a guy with a job that lives in New York and loves hockey. When things go awry, [and] when he goes through the normal methods of what someone would do when they’re [a] law-abiding citizen and he’s met with laughter and scorn… he decides to take things into his own hands.
