The Fangirly Diary of a Geek Girl: Keep no secrets~

TUESDAY

Here’s our first look at Hogwarts in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child from the first public preview! The photo shows banners with the four Hogwarts houses with new and cool designs! It seems to be a scene from the sorting, and at center stage is Rose Granger-Weasley, played by Cherrelle Skeete, the daughter of Ron and Hermione. Now that the public previews have started, J.K. Rowling herself asked that we #KeepTheSecrets and “let audiences enjoy Cursed Child with all the surprises that we’ve built into the story”.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens has finally left theaters in USA at almost 6 month, and managed to get $936.66 million at the box office. Dammit! Just shy of 1 billion in USA! Still, that most than Avatar, which got $760.5 million, so yay! The film ended its run with over thirty box office records and over $2 billion in worldwide gross, only below Avatar and Titanic. The Force was indeed with them!

On Marvel news, Josh Brolin hasn’t even started playing Thanos, but he keeps getting asked questions about it. Still, he has things to say, and shared he was “blown away” by Avengers: Infinity War‘s story:

Basically, my character against everybody. And it’s really fun what they’ve chosen to do with the story. I think it’s brilliant, personally. I was blown away, and had goose pimples pretty much 50% of the time that I was listening to what was going on, and pretty amazed that I’m going to be involved in it. So it’s a big thing that’s coming up.

Thor: Ragnarok begins filming in a patriotic day for US of A. Yep, July 4th! It will be in Queensland, Australia; so yay for Chris Hemsworth who gets to film in his home country. Chris H. talked about what to expect from the movie at Wizard World Philadelphia:

I think tonally it’s a big shift in a great way, more than anything we’ve seen before. Taika Waititi, the director, if you know any of his work, yeah, he’s just an incredible sort of comedic talent, a lot of heart in everything he does. But you know it’s a very different Thor, it’s a different Loki. I think there’s a — we go off on another world that we haven’t experienced before. It’s fun you know, but that’s me skirting around the issue because I can’t say too much.

It’s rumor time! Wolverine 3 might be titled Weapon X, you know like the secret genetics research organization from the Marvel Universe that removed Logan’s memories and coated his skeleton in adamantium. Aw, I kinda was attached to the name Old Man Logan, like the comicbook storyline it has been hinted this movie will be about.

Suicide Squad is now officially rated PG-13, despite the rumours (and hopes?) it will be R rated. Filmmakers and producers have said that there’s no chance of that tho. Still, for those violence and action lovers, PG-13 can be quite intense. I mean X-Men: Apocalypse is PG-13 and we got people turned into pretzels and shish kebab. Besides that, we are promised Suicide Squad will regale us with disturbing behavior, suggestive content and language, so yay?

The Warcraft red carpet came and went, and the highlight was Jamie Lee Curtis cosplaying as an Orc shaman alongside her son, who went to the event as an Orc warrior. She’s a self-proclaimed Warcraft fan, and it’s not the first time she cosplays. That said, it’s always a delight to see her geekery in all her glory.

Guillermo del Toro and Pacific Rim writer Travis Beacham are teaming up for a sci-fi serial killer show on AmazonCarnival Row. It is based on A Killing on Carnival Row, a feature spec script Beacham penned eleven years ago. So, what’s this about?

A Killing on Carnival Row is set in the future in a city called the Burgue, which looks a lot like 18th Century London. It is inhabited by humans and other legendary-logocreatures, and a serial killer is on the loose.

Well, Guillermo del Toro always has a lot of projects lying around, but at least the pilot of this one has been picked up.
