Greetings, fellow fangirls and fanboys! This week we got all the spoilers! Also, casting news, filming news, new TV series and SDCC news! Here’s how the week started:

SATURDAY

Let’s start with a curious piece of news: Deadpool has been top home video seller for three consecutive weeks since it was released, and it is currently the number two on Amazon, behind Zootopia. But it remains number one in the “Action & Adventure” genre. Curiously, it was also the best-selling “Romance” movie on Amazon for a while. Yep, Deadpool. Guess this romance/drama trailer did its work!

Here’s a viral video about “Hybrid Alien Technology” from Independence Day: Resurgence. As the name implies, in this featurette we learn about the innovations we Earthlings created from the technology aliens left behind on our planet 20 years ago.

SUNDAY

A couple of Box Office news! Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 won the weekend box office, with X-Men: Apocalypse in second place.

Besides that, Zootopia passed a new milestone, having sailed past $1 billion worldwide, and so it became the second film of 2016 to achieve it after fellow Disney title Captain America: Civil War. It’s also the fourth animated title in history to reach $1 billion after Frozen (of course), Minions (really?) and Toy Story 3 (yay!).

MONDAY

J.K. Rowling once more defended the casting of black Actress Noma Dumezweni as Hermione in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, and she ain’t going to mince words and flat out called the critics a “bunch of racists”. Hell yeah!

With my experience of social media, I thought that idiots were going to idiot. But what can you say? That’s the way the world is. Noma was chosen because she was the best actress for the job. I had a bunch of racists telling me that because Hermione ‘turned white’ – that is, lost colour from her face after a shock – that she must be a white woman, which I have a great deal of difficulty with. But I decided not to get too agitated about it and simply state quite firmly that Hermione can be a black woman with my absolute blessing and enthusiasm.

OMG! John Boyega will play the son of Idris Elba in Pacific Rim 2! Get all the jobs, you lovely ex stormtrooper you! Sadly, they won’t share any scenes since Stacker Pentecost kinda died in the original film. But I really hope to see what kind of relationship he will have with Rinko Kikuchi’s Mako Mori! But that’s not all! Boyega and Femi Oguns will co-produce the film under their Upper Room Productions shingle.

Jeff Goldblum described his character Grandmaster in Thor: Ragnarok as “a Hedonist, a Pleasure-Seeker”, and also talked about the director’s directive about his performance~

[Taika Waititi] is encouraging me to improvise and make it my own, and that’s what I’m trying to do. I hope he doesn’t throw me out on the first day!

Supergirl is getting ready for its Season 2, and now we know they are casting for Superman. Yep, Man of Steel is coming to National City. Executive producer Andrew Kreisberg confirmed that he “will be appearing in the first two episodes”.
