The Fangirly Diary of a Geek Girl: It’s the Lion King cast and it moves us all~

THURSDAY

Wonder Woman has become the highest-grossing superhero origin film! Barely. It made  $821.74 million worldwide, beating by a small margin Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man with its $821.7 million worldwide back in 2012. Of course adjusting for inflation, Spidey wins over Wondy… but nobody cares for adjusting for inflation so congrats Diana of Themyscira.

Mark Strong is in talks for another villain role! This time for the Shazam! villain Doctor Sivana, which is not bad for a second option villain if we cannot have Black Adam yet. But still, he was the perfect Sinestro! One of the very few things I liked from that awful Green Lantern movie with Ryan Reynolds. Then again, by the time Warner and DC make another Green Lantern movie, Mark Strong might be too old for the role. Which sucks.

Welp, we are getting a flashback from The Avengers for Avengers 4. Yep, that’s Loki with the same armor and the same injuries seen by the end of the big fight. Also, that’s Thor with his classic costume and hair, walking around with Tony Stark wearing the same clothes he wore under his armor during the battle of New York.

Now for the Star Wars side of things, Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy said we are getting a new Star Wars trilogy… with the same cast of characters? I wouldn’t mind, but the statement itself is kinda spoilery.

We’re sitting down now, we’re talking about the next ten years of Star Wars stories, and we’re looking at narratively where that might go. Future stories beyond Episode IX with these new characters: Rey, Poe, Finn, BB-8. But we’re also looking at working with people that are interested in coming into the Star Wars world and taking us to places that we haven’t been yet. And that’s exciting too because its a vast galaxy far, far away, so the possibilities are endless.

FRIDAY

Check out over 40 hi-res stills from Justice League, including our first decent looks of some characters! Here’s a picture of Aquaman because reasons~

We also got a couple of Justice League clips featuring Bruce Wayne trying to recruit The Flash and Aquaman, with various levels of success. Here’s the Flash one because it’s funnier:

AMC wants The Walking Dead to continue for decades as a franchise:

The use of the word ‘franchise,’ we don’t take lightly. It’s not a sloppy or casual word. We’ve studied the best. Some have been around 30, 40, 50 years. We have a chance for a lot of life in the franchise.

We might get a TV adaptation of Lord of the Rings. Yep, Warner Bros. Television and the estate of J.R.R. Tolkien are in talks with Amazon Studios, but it is still in the very early stages. I have mixed feelings about this, but I will be there for the premiere of the first episode at least!

And that’s it for the week. Before I go, I want to wish Happy Birthday to Gwendoline Christie, Julia Roberts, Joaquin Phoenix, Matt Smith, Gabrielle Union, Winona Ryder, Peter Jackson and Dolph Lundgren.
