The Fangirly Diary of a Geek Girl: Guillermo’s bringing sexy back~

FRIDAY

Here are the 10 most anticipated movies of 2018! At least according to a survey of Fandango users. And yes, Avengers: Infinity Wars got first place, and Black Panther in second place (which also got most anticipated comic-book character in a standalone movie). Marvel had more first places with fan favorite actress and actor with Scarlett Johansson and Chris Pratt. Then there’s rising female movie star with Danai Gurira (Black Panther), and most anticipated movie villain with Josh Brolin’s Thanos (Avengers: Infinity War).

Habemus three new Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald images! We have one of Dumbledore looking snazy and not at all like the Dumbledore we know. Another of Grindelwald (ugh) and one of his mysterious supporters, Rosier… and if you are a Potterhead you know that’s also the last name of both a Death Eater and a student from Harry Potter’s years at Hogwarts. Welp, seems that family has always been trouble! And finally a new image of Newt and Tina looking uneasy and yet cute.

Here’s new image of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom and some comments from director J.A. Bayona~

Fallen Kingdom stars with a massive action piece that feels like a James Bond prologue. And in the centre there is the biggest set-piece ever done for a Jurassic movie.

Here are a couple of covers for Black Panther, one from the French Premiere magazine and the other is the newsstand cover from Empire magazine. Curiously, both have pink/purple details~

In this new official image of Avengers: Infinity Wars Thor meets The Guardians Of The Galaxy. Or rather Thor is unconscious and Mantis and Rocket Raccoon are taking care of him. Or rather, Mantis is and Rocket is just there for kicks.

Sophie Turner sure has nice things to say to X-Men: Dark Phoenix director Simon Kinberg. Then she described the film as a “dark, gritty drama”, and that they “wanted to create a whole new genre of superhero movie”. And dammit, she claimed that while “the X-Men go cosmic”, it won’t be the interstellar film I wanted since I saw the 90’s X-Men animated series. Apparently, they’ll rather have a “personal” story. Well damn.

Finally, with Star Wars: The Last Jedi getting more and more money, the franchise has crosses $4 billion. That means Disney has now made back the money it spent to acquire the Star Wars franchise from Lucasfilm in 2012.

And that’s it for the week. Before I go, I want to wish you Happy New Year and Happy Birthday to Stan Lee, Maggie Smith, Nichelle Nichols, Noomi Rapace, Diego Luna and Jude Law.
