The Fangirly Diary of a Geek Girl: Godfather of the Dead

MONDAY

Damn, that Game of Thrones season 7 premiere crushed the previous audience record with a total of 16.1 million viewers: 10.1 million viewers live on HBO + 6 million viewers on HBO Go/Now.

Star Trek: Discovery showrunner Aaron Harberts explained why oh why the Klingons’ look has changed. First, he makes it clear that not only the original showrunner Bryan Fuller fully (lol) advocated the redesign, but he was involved in said redesign. And then there was this tidbits:

In the different versions of Trek, the Klingons have never been completely consistent. We will introduce several different houses with different styles. Hopefully, fans will become more invested in the characters than worried about the redesign.

TUESDAY

To celebrate 20 years since Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone was published, we are getting two new Harry Potter books this October: Harry Potter: A History of Magic, The Book of the Exhibition, about the subjects at Hogwarts, and Harry Potter, A Journey Through a History of Magic, about the history of wizards and witches. These books will accompany a Harry Potter exhibition at the British Library.

Well check this out! We have a new Sorcerer Supreme in Marvel comics and it’s… Loki? Damn, I stop reading comicbooks for a month and this happens?! Not that I mind. I love Loki and it’s the one way that will make me pick-up Doctor Strange comicbooks. Sorry, Stephen! The first issue will be in stores in November.

Fans are pretty hyped for The Defenders news at San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC), and thus there was a lot of promotion from various sources in the buildup to the event. Including these cool individual covers from SFX Magazine! Check out a couple of them:

On the not so eagerly awaited side of Marvel series, here are some character posters for Inhumans, which I am still not sure about, but hey have a panel at SDCC!

Talking about character posters of things I am not sure about, but I as a geek am obligated to at least give a fair chance… here are the final Death Note character posters of Light Turner and Mia Sutton, looking way less attractive than their original counterparts: Yagami Light and Amane Misa.

Also ahead of SDCC, here are two new posters for Star Trek: Discovery! The first features the Starfleet logo accompanied by what I expect is Sonequa Martin-Green’s Michael Burnham, and the second spotlights the U.S.S. Discovery – NCC-1031.

And here’s the Outlander season 3 trailer, a series I will watch enthusiastically. And for those interested in over-thinking and nitpicking (all of us… obviously!), here’s a decent “exhaustive analysis“~
