The Fangirly Diary of a Geek Girl: Go Go Power Wedges!

THURSDAY

EW had the Power Rangers exclusive, our first look at the gang’s new suits! … And it’s mocking time! Yep, sorry, spandex-free makeover was not well received at all. Not many people digged the wedge heels and boob plates on the gals, that they also seemed pretty heavy to do some martial arts in, and basically looking like Iron Man’s Cheap Looking Children. Ouch!

Well, the Russo brothers have accidentally confirmed that Captain Marvel (“Um….Captain Barvel. Totally different character.”) in Avengers: Infinity War films during an event at the Smithsonian Institute. First Mads Mikkelsen and now the Russo brothers? Damn, Disney, you gotta fire your snipers! Anyway, it was something many people suspected, but it’s nice to have a confirmation… sorta!

While the Avengers look fine in their uniforms and armors, they also wear casual clothes in their off-hours. Here’s an interesting talk with Judianna MakovskyCaptain America: Civil War’s costume designer. The one she’s most anticipates costuming more than most in two-parter Avengers: Infinity War? Vision, of course! And I am still surprised by his casual look in the film, who even ears a “sort of hidden” ascot under his shirt!

I thought he would be confident and elegant in his taste, almost perfect, so we decided to look into the men of the 1940s, like Cary Grant: very simple flannel trousers, elegant cashmere sweaters.

You know that catchy cantina theme from Star Wars: The Force Awakens? That basically sounds like space reggae at Maz’s place? It’s been released and it’s called “Jabba Flow”, written by Lin Manuel Miranda and J.J. Abrams, and performed by the former. And yep, it was in Huttese.

FRIDAY

Here we have two new posters of Dominic Cooper’s Jesse Custer and Joseph Gilgun’s Cassidy that totally recreate Preacher comicbook covers, Preacher #1 and Preacher #26 to be exact.

In a long and interesting interview with Deadline, Kevin Feige confirmed that Marvel is “creatively and emotionally” committed to do a standalone Black Widow movie… but when, Kevin Feige? When?! Don’t give me lip service, dude!

We think she’s an amazing character. We think Scarlett Johansson’s portrayal of her is amazing. She’s a lead Avenger and has amazing stories in her own right to tell that we think would be fun to turn into a stand-alone franchise.

In box office news, Captain America: Civil War fell short of Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice on Thursday evening earnings, $25 million to $27.7 million. Still, not a bad number, considering the film is already closing in on $300 million worldwide after reaching both the US and China.

On the DC side of things, Justice League added Ben Affleck as executive producer. Well damn, congrats and may you rein in Zack Snyder and those writers Warner has.

Let’s finish on a funny note. Here’s the amazing R-rated gag reel from Deadpool!

And that’s it for the week. Before I go, I want to wish Happy Birthday to Gal Gadot, Sam Heughan, Wes Anderson, Una Stubbs, Dwayne Johnson, Rebecca Hall, Christina Hendricks and Henry Cavill!

Double Power Ranger this week! Those Power Ranger boobie armors look hard. I think production designers do the boobies because you HAVE to know it’s a lady xD you’re not allowed Mulan armors. God forbid a woman has a flat chested armor. lol

That’s why I liked stormtroopers armors in The Force Awakens. They only way you noticed the females was when they talked and if you were checking their hips xD
