The Fangirly Diary of a Geek Girl: Full of marvelous feels

MONDAY

So the movie Tom Hiddleston was doing about Capa is called now Close Enough, and it’s a romantic war drama about the time Capa met also famous female war photographer Gerda Toro. And you know who’s gonna be Gerda? Hailey Atwell! OMG, I’m so happy! Both of them kinda look earlier 20th century, right?

Talking about romance, what are Tom Hiddleston’s Top Ten romantic movies? He seems to have Pretty Woman in common with Miss Piggy! But his favourite seems to be The Last of the Mohicans, and not only because he is a Daniel Day Lewis fanboy!

Romance is a not specialist subject, but when done right, there is nothing – absolutely nothing – better in cinema. Don’t ask me why but I find The Last of the Mohicans extraordinarily romantic. Mann explores notions of heroism, chivalry, masculinity, sacrifice and intimacy – all inside a motion picture which looks and feels at other times like a historical epic, an action adventure and a war movie. The relationship between Daniel Day Lewis and Madeleine Stowe is among the most romantic that I can remember, but the real knife in the heart is between Eric Schweig and Jodhi May. Don’t even get me started on the score. I might actually cry.

Also, let’s talk about Thor: The Dark World and where Thor and Jane reunite but it’s not as easy as it sounds. After all, he didn’t even call when the events of The Avengers happened!

Thor still has lot of explaining to do, and a lot of making up. Even demigods end up in the doghouse, mate. So none of us is safe.

Indeed, Chris Hemsworth! Also, check how cute Natalie Portman looks in Asgardian duds! Now, she’s the one with the fish-out-of-water situation!

BTW, here are the same two pictures in HD~

Also, in the same article Feige praises Tom Hiddleston’s Loki:

Tom has built and shaped one of the best movie villains in years with many, many layers. It will be very difficult for Loki to lose the villain status. He has that firmly in hand.

Talking about Loki, more Young Avenger shennanigans with Kid Loki! Hawkeye and Marvel Boy finally join the action in Young Avengers #4!

We saw how on the fangirly facebook the IMAX poster of Iron Man 3, here are the rough sketches of some unused designs. Some of them are quite cool! Here are my favourites:

Empire Magazine gives us their The Man of Steel covers! One with Henry Cavill’s Superman and the other Michael Shannon’s General Zod. Man, Kryptonians sure like to scowl!

And because nothing is sacred, some people have already scanned the new images in the related articles inside the issue. Check them here.

Here’s the first clip of Star Trek Into Darkness which I already saw in the preview~ Yep, that “the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few” quote was totally from Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan.

Also, the inside of the Enterprise Bridge is oh so pretty!

Dammit, Futurama got cancelled… again. So, after this Season 7 is over, Futurma won’t be back. I’ll miss it, but this has happened before, and maybe they’ll return again. If not, I pretty much agree with what creator Matt Groening has to say:

We’ve been in this situation before and it’s tempting when you’re doing episodes that are as good or better than anything you’ve ever done to continue doing it. We’re catching our breath and seeing what the fans have to say. The experience of this show has been so much fun from the very beginning to now — everybody is so happy to work on this show — that it’d be a shame if we all went our separate ways… We would love to continue. We have many more stories to tell. But if we don’t, this is a really great way to go out… I think these episodes are the best ones we’ve ever done.

Christoph Waltz is directing an opera, which I care because this is Waltz we are talking about, and because the opera in question is Strauss’ Der Rosenkavalier which is all kinds of a awesome.

@Diandra Rodriguez, Yeah, that Tilda was into k-pop was a total surprise for me too xD Now, I wonder what (or rather who) exactly she likes!
As for the others my mixed feelings of American manga adaptations attack…
And is it too much to ask that Fox and Disney joing forces to do a House of M movie?
